Paper apple blossoms in my home

Hi Everybody,

Although spring, the season of flowers, is ending, I have not resisted sharing a spring wreath with apple blossoms which I love!

One of the things I like most of the flower dies is that you can cut it in watercolor paper and color them according to the flowers you want to represent. I enjoy a lot thinking what is the flower I want to do, and what are the colors I have to paint to get it

In this case with Distress Ink Mustard Seed and Cracked Pistachio (and also a little bit of Cracked Pistachio Distress Spray for the branches), I managed some beautiful apple blossoms. Adequately combined we can do this wreath which gives a 100% spring style to our house. Here, some details of my wreath.

Pink or not ? by Karine

Hello everyone!

It’s Thursday again! Here is a new page, with pink quite everywhere! People often ask me how I manage to use pink on masculine lay-outs. Well that’s definitely not a problem for me! Check this out!

Supply list:

Papers, stickers: Crate Paper
Cardstock: American Crafts
Alphabets: 7Gyspsies
Spray Ink: Studio Calico
Stencil: Pause Créative

660807 : Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 4PK- Sunny Flowers
656545 : Sizzix Bigz Die-Flowers 3D

This is a summer page! Let’s compare it to a vitamin cocktail! Flamingo, pineapple, flowers and foliage are all the ingredients of a fantastic summer 2015!

I started by gluing my two small pictures. They’re the same picture but one is in color and the other is black& white.
I placed some stickers and printed some stamps all around the pictures.

Now time to use the Big Shot and my favorite dies! Let’s start with pretty leaves cut out of white paper then colorized with Adirondack inks. The 3D flower will be slightly shaded in pink (Watermelon ink).

The word PINK is cut using the marvelous Fresh Blossom alphabet. Each letter will then be stamped with text patterns and shaded on the edges with the Citrus green Adirondack ink.

I also added a small flower from the Sunny Flowers set. As a finishing touch, I used stencils from Pause Créative to add some patterns (flamingo & pineapple).

That’s all for today! I leave you with my very colorful page!

Have a lovely day,

Karine

May Day Felt Flower Wreath

1st May in the UK is 'May Day'. In the past, it has often involved celebrations of maypole dancing and appreciating the Spring flowers and greenery. I've been so inspired by all the Spring blooms lately so decided to make a felt flower wreath to hang on the door of our home.

I used the Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit which is getting so much use for lots of my projects now!

I cut felt petals using the Bigz Petal Power Flower Die in pink and white.

Then I used a hot glue gun to secure all the petals together. I love glue guns, they are so useful for all types of crafting! It was much quicker than sewing all the petals together.

I covered a polystyrene wreath with light coloured burlap and secured with a glue gun.

I added a string for hanging the wreath and attached the flowers to the wreath, again with the hot glue. This is so simple to make I am thinking it would be good for the holidays as well.

I hope you like my wreath project and it has inspired you to get crafting. We celebrate May Day with an extra day off work, so I'll be using the time to work on some more craft projects.

Have a great weekend!

New holidays Mini Book by Karine

Hi everyone!

Let’s meet up today around a new holidays mini book that I will teach in my next workshops in France and in Belgium!

Supply list:
Papers, cardstock: American Crafts
Labels: Crate Paper
Embellishments flowers, charm, corners: Ephéméria
Alphabets: 7Gyspsies
Masking Tape
Inks: Izink Aladine

Dies:

660515 : Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit
656545 : Sizzix Bigz Die-Flower 3D

I felt like creating a colourful summer cover with a lot of volume! I started by colorizing my background paper with my Izink pigment inks! The diluted ink is taken with a paintbrush.

Once my background has dried, I added a Crate Paper label, flower die cuts, colourful Masking Tape and some 3D elements!

To create some volume, I glued pretty resin flowers, added a metallic plane fixed with an elastic band and a seasonal pretty 3D flower (from the Flower 3D die) which is one of my favorite embellishments these days!

It is cut out of white paper then colorized with a sea green spray ink.
Once the paper is dry, roll your flower starting from the outer edges until the inner part. Fix with liquid glue.

Add a title with alphabet letters and here you are!

Thanks for your visits!

Karine

Papiers, cardstock : American Crafts
Etiquettes : Crate Paper
Embellissements fleurs, breloque, angles : Ephéméria
Alphabets : 7Gyspsies
Masking Tape
Encres : Izink Aladine

Dies :

660515 : Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit
656545 : Sizzix Bigz Die-Flower 3D

Karine

Books, roses and love

Hi everybody!

Here in Catalonia (where I live) on April 23 is a very special day. All people have as a gift books and roses to celebrate love. The main points of every town and city are full of people walking between booths of books and roses, writers sign their works, a lot of cultural events are held ... This is Sant Jordi in Catalonia!

As I said, books and roses are the habitual for all the lovers, and this year I decided to give an original handcraft rosebush.

I'm very happy with this, I hope is gonna be enjoyed! Here you have a step by step:

I use a real branch to stick with hot glue all my flowers

Must haves!

When does want become need? when does 'I would like' become 'I must have.....NOW!' and no, I'm not talking about wine, chocolate or shoes but a couple of new Sizzix Bigz dies which cut the most divine 3D flowers ever.

I've used card for this piece but they are Bigz dies so they would be just as effective in textiles and a host of other other materials too.

The dies concerned are Bigz Flowers 3-D #3 and flowers 3-D #4. click on the links for a closer look.

I started with a blank wooden frame which was just crying out to be altered in some way, shape or form. I applied a little gesso (white acrylic paint will work too) to a craft sheet and rolled it out into a thin layer with a brayer before applying it to the frame.

I chose a text stamp from Tim Holtz' Stampers Anonymous range and used a mid brown Distress Ink to add the text in a random pattern onto the frame.

I used both dies to die-cut white paper to give you a better indication of what they are all about. Next, I went through my paper stash and pulled out some My Minds Eye papers from the fabulous Lost & Found ranges and die-cut the three different flowers.

I used Old Paper and Vintage Photo Distress Ink pads to add a little contrast to the edges of the petals and then I applied a little glue to the tab to create the 3-D effect, I also curled the petals back to create a more naturalistic effect.

I die-cut the long centre strip and used a pair of scissors to snip down the centre of the sticky-outy bits (technical jargon alert!!!). I inked the tips and rolled the strip using a pair of tweezers before bending the individual bits back to create the flowers centre. I repeated with the other two flowers and attached the centres accordingly.

I die-cut a selection of 3-D spiral flowers and inked the edges of the lighter ones before gently sanding the tips of the darker ones.

There are various theories as how best to create the 3-D flowers but I like to use a pair of tweezers and roll the shape keeping the tweezers facing the centre. Once the petals are rolled all the way simply add a blob of hot glue and allow the flower to slightly unravel as much or as little as required before the glue sets.

Use the tweezers to bend the tips of the petals over to create a natural looking bloom.

I added some natural twine to the top of the frame before arranging the flowers as shown.

I'm sure that I will be returning to these dies again and again in the future.

Happy Easter

Hello everybody,

Today, I am suggesting to prepare the Easter holiday by decorating a small egg box and to associate it with a card.

I kept this small box which contained 4 eggs with in mind to decorate it, fill it with chocolate eggs and offer it during Easter celebrations.

I chose to paint it using a slightly spangled pink bomb: on all surfaces, inside and outside.

The benefit of this technique is the speed of realization, within 5 minutes it's done. But it is necessary to do this in a safety way: outside or in a well-ventilated place, wearing a mask and gloves.

Let dry the box outside. Then, it's time to decorate...

Please yourself with the pretty colours of the spring! I used papers and printable labels Sizzix, which you can download for free here

I have added flowers cut in pink, yellow and fuchsia Bazzill, using the Die Flowers in 3D. This gives a lot of pep and volume to the decoration of this box.

The box closes with a small ribbon. Do not hesitate to play with the theme by adding small eggs or rabbits.

You can also decorate the inside and leave a personal message.

For the card, I used the same papers and technique for the flowers and I used the Die Leaves to create a foliage in a green Bazzill.

Here is for this Tuesday, I wish you a happy Easter holiday!

Supply list:

658300:  Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit
656545:  Sizzix Big Die - Flowers, 3-D
657119:  Sizzix Big Die - Leaves

Paper, Alpha, Chipboards & stickers: Bella Boulevard
Strass & Doily: Scrapboukits
Cardstock: Bazzill
Paper: Easter collection Sizzix

Thank you and bye for now
