3D flowers

Like most crafters, I can't have enough 3D flowers, so here is my take on how to make a bunch of flowers using Flowers, Lovely, from my Sizzix Everyday Collection.

I started by die cutting many flowers in all three sizes using Bo Bunny Double Dot papers (my current favorite for die cutting at the minute).

Position the flower upside down on top of a mouse pad or flower shaping mat. Then use a round ended tool to shape the centre and keep it in circular motions moving to the petals. Gentle does it!

Turn it upside up and shape the centre down. Then add the flower on to another to layer them as on the right photo.

Another way to do 3D flowers, to create more of a lotus or peonies look, is to shape them on the front.

Layering many of the same size and then adding smaller sizes inside.

These are some of the ones I made. And then I had to make them into stems (florist's wire and tape) and them through the large spools.

By the way, if you like Sizzix and specially the Everyday range, tune in QVC UK on Wednesday 10th of October at 2pm (GMT) as I will be showing some of the sets on air. You can watch online here.

I'm a Fossil Bag addict

Hello everyone!

Today, I'd like to show you a layout I made using my new favorite Framelits dies set : the Frames, Decorative #2 :)

You'll need for this layout :

I used the Decorative Frames Framelits to create the 3 cute labels on this layout. I used both the cut-out and the edges of the die-cuts, in order to create labels with 2 different patterned papers.

Isn't it cute?

The best way to use these Framelits is to cut into double-sided papers, so that you can choose which side you want to use on your layout!

Hope this inspired you!
Take care !

Everyday: masking stamping

Just because the Everyday sets come with stamps and dies doesn't mean that we always have to use them both for a project. However, the fact that they work together offers so many different possibilities like makes easy a good old stamping technique called masking.

Start by die cutting the Scalloped Flowers using sticky notes or Stix2 Masking sheet.

Stamp the first flower, this one will be in the forefront, so choose wisely! Then place cover the top the matching die cut sticky note.

Keep stamping and placing the right size die cut sticky note over, so that it looks something like on the right hand side. I recommend to lift the stickers to see where you are at, but dont forget to cover them up before doing a next lot of stampin.

Once a large area has been covered, I trimmed to fit in the front of card.

To add a focal point, I stamped the banner with the text on it twice, once with pink ink and the second with green. The thing with this stamps is that some of them work with two dies, so that you can layer as shown on the right.

I stamped the message which is from the Labels and Journalling clear stamps I designed for Personal Impressions. Then I die cut it using a circle framelit that is 1" (the one included on the Old Labels set is 1").
I used the smallest banner dies to create a kind of ribbon stripe under the circle.

And this is the finished card.

Everyday: Banner Birthday Calendar

Another project featuring the Everyday Banners, this set really inspires me. There is so much you can do with it. The idea behind it started because I ALWAYS forget birthdays never mind making and postung birthday cards in time.
Because of that, I wanted to have a photo display in which each page was a photo of a member of my family or a friend with the date of their birthday. because I place them by date, every time the birthday has passed I change the photo over. Here is how:

To create the pages die cut patterned papers using the largest die.

Using the computer, I wrote all the dates of my close family. I just made sure it fit inside of the smallest banner die.

They look so cute once die cut.

Then, I die cut the photos using the third largest die. I just made sure that there was empty space on the right hand side of the photo to place the date banner there.

Layered the elements (all banners), glue them together and make two holes at the top.

I use a small acrylic sign holder, I just added paper inside and drill two holes with a drill.
hopefully with this little calendar and photo frame I will be a bit more organised.

A peek into my world!

Hello!

I'm still catching up on my 31 Things online workshop with Ali Edwards these days and I wanted to show a layout I made about my WORK. I've been a full time Scrapbook artist for over 6 years now and my work consists on doing a LOT of things, from teaching classes everywhere in France, Europe and the World, to designing layouts and mini albums for companies, owning a Scrapbook magazine, taking care of my own blogs (one in french and one in english) and much more! :) So this layout is all about that!
I used my favorite Sizzix Movers and Shapers die, the Camera and Alarm Clock set, because they suit perfectly the theme of my layout : setting up deadlines and alarm clocks, and photography which is the essence of my work.
You'll need a Big Shot and a Base Tray to use your Movers & Shapers dies too.

Supplies list

Papers (Kesi'art); Digital kit (Paislee Press); Digital LIFE brush (Ali Edwards); Embellishments (October Afternoon); Badges (Ormolu, October Afternoon); Stickers (October Afternoon); Wood Embellishement (Studio Calico); Alphas (October Afternoon, EK Success); Brads (October Afternoon); Die Cut Machine (Big Shot machine - 655268); Camera & Alarm clock set Movers & Shapers (657840); Base Tray (657007).

Take care!

Everyday: Banner Mini Album

One of my favourite paper craft projects is making Mini Albums. There is something really fulfilling in creating a project from start to finish full of memories from a trip or important event.

And since my husband and I recently celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary by taking a few days off  and visiting krakow I thought I should make a small album to celebrate it. After all, it was the first time since we got married that we actually celebrated the anniversary in style!

And what better to use as a base for the mini albums that using the Banner Framelits from my Everyday collection.

I selected first the papers. I wanted softer look so that the photos would stand out. Also, wanted the papers to be almost card stock thickness so it seem obvious to choose My Minds Eye Miss Caroline collection.

I die cut several papers using the largest Banner framelit.

I then scored 1/2" from the left edge in all the banners that were going to go in the inside.

Then I place double sided tape on the scored flap. Most of the times I use wet glue for this, as it will be stringer bond, but for step by step photos it was easier to use tape.

I also printed photos in regular sizes and a bit smaller to be able to die cut them.

Oh, the beauty of the framelits! Not only we get to see exactly what we are die cutting, but we dont get any unwanted partial embossing which can damage the printed image.

For the spine of the Mini Album I chose to do a concertina fold. It is one of the system that I most go to.

After scoring at every half an inch, I made sure the folds worked nicely.

Then i just trimmed sections and attached the different pages to them.

Including the photos.

In order for the different sections to cascade, I needed to place the concertina sections at about 1/2" from teach other.

Once finished, it should look like this.

For the cover, I decided to print the title with the computer and then die cut it using the second largest framelit die.

Easy peasy!

And finally I added a stamped + die cut banner from the same Banners set. That is the beauty of this stamps + Framelits sets, you can mix and match as you wish.
