I had fun creating a custom-made background with a white cardstock and green acrylic paint.

Apply the paint vertically with an old loyalty plastic card.

While the paint dries, cut some shapes with your Big Shot for future decoration.

I chose a little butterfly and photo corners.

These embellishments are cut out of white paper then shaded with Adirondack watermelon ink. Then I stamped on them for more fancy.

Have fun writing all that comes to your mind with your charcoal. Dim it lightly with your fingertips. Draw a heart free-hand.

Add some colourful dots, buttons and stickers.

Your page is done!

Je me suis amusée ici à créer un fond sur mesure en utilisant un cardstock blanc et une peinture acrylique verte.

Appliquez la peinture verticalement à l'aide d'une carte en plastique.

Pendant que la peinture sèche, découpez des formes à la Big Shot en vu de décorer votre création. J'ai opté ici pour un petit papillon et des coins photos.

Ces embellissements découpés en blanc sont ensuite ombrés à l'encre Adirondack watermelon. Ils sont ensuite tamponnés pour plus de fantaisie.

Amusez-vous à écrire tout ce qui se passe dans votre tête à l'aide d'un fusain, estompez légèrement au doigt. Dessinez un coeur à main levée.

Complétez votre page avec des pastilles colorées, boutons et autocollants.

Votre page est terminée !

My background is quite loaded with patterns but soft in colours. I splashed some coffee drops on it.

A diagonal paper strip is added. It will be dressed up with circles cut out with my Big Shot machine. I used my new machine and the starter kit which I like so much! The old book page is quite thin so you can superimpose several sheets to cut out tons of die cuts in a single operation!

I chose to work tone-on-tone by adding wood embellishments. My title “Lovely Day” is made of sticker alphabets.

A little bow cut with my Big Shot comes as a completion and adds some volume. This die is really fantastic for those who like volume and feminine accents as I do!

J'ai utilisé ici un fond de page assez chargé en motifs mais très doux en couleur que j'ai retravaillé en éclaboussant quelques gouttes de café.

Une bande de papier diagonale est ajoutée, elle sera complétée par des ronds découpés à la Big Shot. J'ai utilisé pour ce faire ma nouvelle machine et le kit de départ que j'adore ! Le papier vieux livre étant assez fin, vous pouvez superposer plusieurs feuilles et obtenir une multitude de découpes en une seule fois !

J'ai choisi de rester ton sur ton en ajoutant des embellissements en bois. Mon titre "Lovely Day" est réalisé à partir d'alphabets autocollants.

Un petit noeud découpé à la Big Shot vient compléter ma création et ajouter un peu de volume ! Un die absolument génial et magique pour toutes celles qui aiment le relief et les embellissements féminins comme moi !

Bookmark for two. Shadow die cutting

Hi everybody!

As you may know, next Wednesday is World Book Day and it is a great celebration in Catalonia, because we celebrate Sant Jordi (St. Georges) too. This Holiday, which celebrates love and reading and the streets are filled with roses and books, is actually my favorite holiday and I love taking a stroll around the streets of Barcelona and browse through the book stalls.

It is very easy to create a shadow effect with Sizzix dies, as I did in this bookmark. You just have to die cut the same shape with black card stock and glue it a little bit to the side. I love the dimension of this simple technique.

I designed this double bookmark so the book can be shared and read by two people at the time, but it creates also a cute embellishment if you leave the smallest tag out of the book.

¡Hola a todos!

Seguramente sabréis que el miércoles es el Día Internacional del Libro y, en Catalunya, también Sant Jordi, una de mis fiestas favoritas, en las que las calles se llenan de rosas y libros. ¡Me encanta salir a pasear ese día por las calles de Barcelona y disfrutar de una fiesta tan bonita!

Es  muy sencillo conseguir el efecto de sombra con los troqueles de Sizzix. Solo tenéis que troquelar una forma con cartulina negra y pegarla a la forma que quieras pero un poco hacia un lado. Me encanta el realce y la profundidad que se consigue con esta sencilla técnica.

He diseñado este punto de libro para que se pueda usar por dos personas a la vez y que así se pueda compartir el libro y leerlo simultáneamente, pero también queda un adorno muy chulo si se deja la etiqueta pequeña colgando por fuera.

Beautiful frame as a card shape



Hello Sizzix fans! It's Karola here with something new from my craftroom! For today's post I would show you an unusual shaped card. 

I absolutely LOVE to use an interesting shapes as a forms of my cards, I think it's a great way to try create something out of the box. The main role in my today's card playing a stunning frame, which I cut out using Framelits - Frame, fancy oval die. This shape of card is perfect for any occasion, especially for birthdays and weddings.

And here are my cards, I made a year ago, using the same set of dies - Framelits Die Set 4PK - Frame, Fancy Oval:

1. Using Big Shot machine, Framelits Die Set 4PK - Frame, Fancy Oval (large frame) and a white cradstock (250 - 300 gsm), cut out a frame. 
2. After cutting the large filigree frame you have also an oval. Use it to draw an oval shape onto folded card base (square 14 x 14 cm). Remember to leave a 1 - 1,5 cm folded space on your card base and 0,5 cm space around the oval edges. We need the final card base bigger than the orginal oval.
3. Apply liquid glue on the edges of the oval card base and stick the frame on it. 
4. Again, use the die-cut oval to trace the shape on patterned paper. Cut the oval along the drawn line. It will be our background of the card.
5. You can emboss patterned oval shape using one of Sizzix Textured Expressions embossing folders. I used the honeycomb motif from Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Basket Weave & Honeycomb Set.
6. Adhere an embossing oval in the centre of the card base (on the white frame), using 3D foam squares.
7. It's the time for decorate your card. I using patterned chipboards, the flower and Sizzix dies to cut out beautiful motifs. I cut out the ivy leaves using Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die - Spring Greenery and the butterfly - using the die included to Big Shot Starter Kit (Powder Blue & Teal).

Absolutnie uwielbiam używać ciekawych kształtów jako form moich kartek, myślę, że to świetny sposób, aby trochę potrenować i popróbować tworzenie niecodziennych kartek a także kreatywne wyobrażenie o kartce okolicznościowej.

Główną rolę w mojej kartce, którą Wam dziś prezentuję, pełni przepiękna ramka, którą wycięłam za pomocą wykrojnika z zestawu Framelits - Frame, fancy oval. Myślę, że to doskonały motyw do kartek na każdego rodzaju okazję, w szczególności do kartek urodzinowych i ślubnych.

1. Za pomocą maszyny Big Shot, wykrojników z zestawu Framelits Die Set 4PK - Frame, Fancy Oval (duża ramka) oraz białego brystolu (250 - 300 g m/²), wytnij dekoracyjną ramkę.
2. Po wycięciu ramki, powinien pozostać ci jeszcze owal (środek ramki). Użyj go do odrysowania owalu na złożonej bazie kartki (kwadratowa baza 14 x 14 cm). Podczas wycinania owalu, pamiętaj o dodaniu ok. 0,5 cm zapasu, ponieważ potrzebujemy bazy nieco większej niż oryginalny, wycięty wykrojnikiem owal. Nalezy też zostawić ok. 1 - 1,5 cm miejsca w miejscu złożenia bazy kartki. 
3. Nałóż niewielką ilość kleju na brzegi owalnej bazy kartki a następnie naklej dekoracyjną ramkę. 
4. Ponownie, używając owalu, który został wycięty wykrojnikiem, odrysuj kształt na kolorowym lub wzorzystym papierze do scrapbookingu. Wytnij owal wzdłuż narysowanej linii. Będzie to tło naszej kartki.
5. Możesz dodatkowo wytłoczyć owalne, kolorowe tło za pomocą jednego z folderów do embossingu Sizzix. Ja użyłam folderu z motywem plastra miodu z zestawu: Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Basket Weave & Honeycomb Set.
6. Wytłoczony owal przyklej za pomocą kostek 3D na środek białej ramki znajdującej się już na bazie naszej kartki.
7. Pozostało ozdobić kartkę. Ja użyłam zadrukowanych tekturek, kwiatka oraz pieknych papierowych elementów, wyciętych za pomocą wykrojników Sizzix. Listki bluszczu wycięłam korzystając z wykrojnika Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die - Spring Greenery a ażurowego motylka - za pomocą wykrojnika dołączonego do zestawu startowego -  Big Shot Starter Kit (Powder Blue & Teal).

Die border masking

Hi everybody!

Today I want to show you a very easy technique that you con do with your Framelits or Sizzlits and Distress Inks to create white borders.

Supply list: 657900 Sizzix Big Shot machine
658692 Sizzix Framelits Die Set 11PK - Flower Layers & Leaf
Cardstock: White
Distress Inks: Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Fired Brick, Shabby Shutters, Mowed Lawn Red Pearl Foam squares

Black gel pen

To achieve this result you have to die cut your shapes using your Big Shot as usual, and then apply Distress Inks without removing the Framelits. This creates a very delicate white border if you are inking the actual

shape and you can have a shadow effect if you use the negative space, as I did in this window card.

¡Hola a todos!

Hoy quiero compartir con vosotros una técnica muy facilita que podéis utilizar con vuestros Framelits y Sizzilits y vuestras tintas Distress para crear bordes blancos.

Para lograr este resultado solo tenéis que troquelar vuestras formas como siempre con la Big Shot y luego, sin quitar los troqueles, aplicar la tinta Distress. Si lo hacéis directamente en la forma que habéis troquelado os hará un bordecito blanco muy sutil y delicado, y si aplicáis la tinta por fuera del troquel conseguiréis un efecto de sombra, tal como he hecho yo en la ventana de esta tarjeta.

Feeling romantic...

With the arrival of spring I like to incorporate (even!) more flowers to my projects, and today I have made a very romantic tag.

I love the 3-D effect of this flower and the realistic appearance achieved only inking the edges of the card with Distress Ink.  

You can use many adhesives to put this flower together (Glossy Accents, hot glue...) but in this one I have used Glue Dots. You just have to find what works for you.

Con la llegada de la primavera me gusta incorporar (¡todavía más!) flores en mis trabajos. Hoy os enseño un tag muy romántico donde la protagonista es una preciosa rosa.

La verdad es que me encanta el efecto 3D de este troquel y el aspecto realista que se puede conseguir tan solo poniendo tinta distress en la cartulina.

Para pegar la rosa se pueden usar muchos adhesivos (Glossy Accents, silicona caliente...) pero en esta en concreto he utilizado Glue Dots.

I started by working on my background with a 12x12 stencil and ink sprays (green and yellow colours).

While my background dries, I cut a doily out of white cardstock with my Big Shot and some foliage out of green printed paper.

I inserted the elements around my picture, wherever there was a free space.

As a finishing touch, I added some drops of black ink and striped masking tape to add contrast.

The title “life is good” is a combination of stamp and alphabet letters.

A very simple and colourful lay-out! I hope it will inspire you!

J'ai commencé par retravailler mon fond de page à l'aide d'un pochoir 12x12 et de deux couleurs d'encres en spray ( vert et jaune).

Pendant que mon fond sèche, j'ai découpé à l'aide de ma Big Shot, un napperon dans du cardstock blanc et des feuillages dans un imprimé vert.

Tous les éléments sont intégrés autour de ma photo, profitant d'un espace libre.

J'ai rajouté en touche finale quelques gouttes noires, du masking tape zébré afin d'ajouter du contraste.

Le titre " Life is Good" est composé de tampon et d'alphabets.

Une page toute simple et colorée, qui je l'espère vous inspirera !

Instant Photo Frame Card


Hi there! Today I have a card to share created by Connie Mercer from the Darkroom Door Creative Team. Connie has used the Instant Photo Frame Die 658460 along with Darkroom Door Stamps: "Possible" Quote stamp and the "Grid" Background stamp.

Connie stamped half of the Grid Background stamp on the white cardstock. Then layered the Instant Photo Frame over the grid. The quote was next and then continued adding embellishments to complete the card.

I add layers - because I can!

Hi again friends! 

Today I'm sharing with you one of my newest paper layouts - all covered in my favorite colors of Archival Inks, Distress Inks and sprays... I just love this way of creating, when I keep using bits and pieces which are around, on my table, waiting to be used. I hate throwing away things - they can be used for a project, right? Small pieces of paper and cardboard are great for Die-cutting - that's why I always put them aside. I've also made a basket for my cut-out pieces and leftovers... hmmm crazy enough?

As you can see I've gone really crazy with layers (why not, right?)
There are paper strips and pieces (7 Dots Studio, Prima Marketing), canvas pieces, metal embellishments (Prima Marketing - my Mechanicals), lace - and of course my favorite Sizzix cut-outs - all colored and inked!

My page is built horizontally in line with my picture. I was inspired by the Spring colours in my picture; it helped me choose my colour combo.

I cut and superimposed several strips of pattern paper. I created the Sizzix die cuts with scraps of paper.

I started by cutting two pretty flowers and added a button and a small dot in their center.

Then I cut foliage patterns out of white Bristol paper. I outlined the inner edges of the pattern with a thin-tipped black pen.

I also inserted stickers and photo corners. You can add as many die cuts as you want with the Sizzix die!!!

The title is black to add some more contrast.

Ma page est construite de façon horizontale dans le prolongement de ma photo. Je me suis inspirée des couleurs printanière de celle-ci pour choisir mon combo couleur.

Plusieurs bandes de papiers imprimés sont découpées et superposées, je me suis servie des chutes pour effectuer mes découpes Sizzix.

Tout d'abord deux belles fleurs dont les centres seront complétés par un bouton et un petit dot.

J'ai ensuite découpé des feuillages dans du bristol blanc, l'intérieur sera souligné à l'aide d'un stylo noir.

Ma page sera complétée avec des étiquettes, angles photos, le die Sizzix est juste parfait pour rajouter des découpes à volonté !

Le titre est ajouté en noir afin d'ajouter un maximum de contraste.

Une page qui je l'espère vous inspirera !

Today I’ll show you an all-in-green page to celebrate Mother Nature. I used two sets of dies that were just perfect for my theme “Go Green”!

This is a creation with pastel tone-on-tone colours that is highlighting a nice picture of a stroll in the mountain.

I started by applying Gesso on a white cardstock with an old loyalty card. Once my paper was dry, I had fun colouring it with watercolour pens from STABILO Pen 68.

Then I added stamped patterns printed with a tone-on-tone ink colour, and Sizzix dies.

The first foliage pattern is cut out of white paper then coloured with the watercolour pens.

The butterflies and dragonfly patterns are cut out of tracing paper. They are stapled to the background to avoid unexpected glue marks.

Finish by inserting little colourful dots and your title!

Une création dans les couleurs pastelles et ton sur ton pour mettre à l'honneur une belle photo de balade en montagne.

J'ai commencé par appliquer du Gesso sur mon cardstock blanc à l'aide d'une carte de fidélité.

Une fois ma surface sèche je me suis amusée à la colorer avec des feutres aquarellables de la marque STABILO Pen 68.

Mon fond est ensuite complété par des tampons imprimés avec une encre ton sur ton et des découpes Sizzix.

Le premier feuillage est découpé en blanc, il est ensuite coloré avec ces mêmes feutres aquarellables.

Les découpes papillons et libellule sont quant à elles découpées dans du papier calque. Elles sont agrafées à mon fond afin d'éviter toutes traces de colle indésirables.

Complétez ensuite avec de jolies pastilles aux couleurs assorties et votre titre !
