Quick and Easy Candy Bag

Hello everybody,
I told you the last weeks how many friends are invited us to some birthday parties and I like to give them something that I made by myself. For the daughter of a special friend I made a little candy bag.

Here is my list of supplies:
Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit #660515 and the included Bigz Die Essentials
a paper bag, some pieces of pretty paper and of course some candy ;)

I die cutted some of the flowers with the Bigz Die from the Big Shot Plus Starter Kit and attached them together with my stapler. With bending the wings of the butterfly and the leaves it became a little more depth. The paper bag got a little texture on the bottom with one of my favorite embossing folders! I love the pattern with the cute hearts.

I filled it with a lot of candy, but you can also use other things like nailpolish, a little book, pens or other crafty things. :) Hope you like my little gift bag and wish you a beautiful weekend.

Have a nice day, xo Julia

A cute and vintage caravan kitchen cloth

Hi everyone!! Summer is one of my favorite seasons because we usually travel with our caravan. We enjoy a lot outside and  I take time to do what really I love living in touch with nature.
So when I saw the new Sizzix Die by Eileen Hull with an adorable " Travel Trailer" I knew I had to do something , and here it is my project, a kitchen cloth you can use in different ways.

First I chose my scraps and ironed some double side fusible web, cut out the pieces and press on a background fabric ( 8.5").

Then I appliqué with black thread and straight lines. Using  Bigz XL 25" Die - Squares, 2" Finished (2 1/2" Unfinished) I  cut out squares and sew in a row. You can use Bigz L Die - Squares, 2" Finished (2 1/2" Unfinished) too.
Sew around the square and you get the block finished.

I finished my kitchen cloth with a nice lace around and same stripe fabric for backing.
If you like doing camping you know the fridge is usually  small and many times  it doesn´t fill everything you want. So , frequently I put some fruit on a plate outside. Now I have got a nice cloth to protect from insect!

I hope you like this new project. I´m sure I will sew something more with this cute caravan with a vintage style I love.
Happy summer days and I see you in two weeks
Love
Mercedes

the Wedding gift....

Hi there,

do you remember the wedding card i showed you weeks ago?
Tomorrow is the big day - my boss will get married.

And of course the bureau collected some money for a gift.
But what to give, if the couple already owns everything???

So we decided to give the money - but only packed in an envelope?

Never...

I made a little kitschy frame of it.

All you need is:
Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit (White & Gray)
(out of this: Thinlits Plus Die Set (Basic Shapes) and
Bigz L Die (Everyday Essentials))
Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Alphabet Die - Alphabetical
a frame
some banknotes

First i fold all the banknotes into hearts (yes, again hearts  ;-)
How to do this, is shown here.

Than i laid them into one big heart in the frame.

Then i put some decoration all around.
I used the Thinlits Plus Die Set (Basic Shapes) and the Bigz L Die (Everyday Essentials)
out of the  Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit (White & Gray)

Ready....

Have a great weekend,, Stephanie

Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit (White & Gray)
(daraus: Thinlits Plus Die Set (Basic Shapes) und
Bigz L Die (Everyday Essentials))
Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Alphabet Die - Alphabetical
einen Bilderrahmen
Geldnoten

fertig.

Habt ein schönes Wochenende
Liebste Grüße, Steffi

Set of summer cards, Part 2/2: Beach ball

Hi Sizzix friends!

Today I want to show you the second of the two summer cards I have made. I have used the same framelit but in this case the result is a fun beach ball.

This is the card:

The summer is a beach time, so this ball reminds me the fun days playing with our children, so it is perfect for decorating this card to welcome the summer.

Here are the materials you need to die-cut:

For the beach ball a piece of green, blue and orange cardstock, the circles Framelits, pieces of different blue colours for the waves and the decorative scallops strip die.

And now the steps to create this beach ball using only a circle die and the other steps to complete the card:

Die-cut a blue, a green and an orange circles.

Then die-cut only these parts of the orange circle.

Then die-cut these parts of the green circle.

We have the beach ball pieces!!!
The green parts are slightly over the edges of the blue circle,
make sure the top is positioned well!!! (The die-cut blue circle is a complete shape)

Then die-cut different blue colours cardstock using the decorative scallops strip die to
resemble the waves in our card.

And now we have all the pieces for our card!!!

Draw a dotted line on the ball.  And don’t worry about the bottom of the ball
because anyway it will be hidden between the waves.

Now we can put all the pieces together and stamp the message.

I have used the following Sizzix products:

I hope you have enjoyed this summer card. Thanks for your visit!

Have a creative and happy Friday!

¡¡¡Feliz y creativo viernes!!!

Summer Sunshine - Rising Sun

With summer in full swing, it seems a little unfair to bemoan the rising sun, however, 4.30 am in my bedroom window, beautiful as it is, I'd rather the dawn chorus would wait just a little longer.

So this month, in my homage to the rising sun, I give you the Rising Sun Block.

I found this beauty in the Quilters Album of Patchwork Patterns By Jinny Beyer

and really, if you are into traditional patchwork blocks, then this is for you!

I am loving finding all the blocks that I can use my Sizzix Big Shot Plus and Bigz dies for.  So I was pretty thrilled to be able to do all the cutting for this block completely by Sizzix.

I wasn't feeling so great, my daughter, having finish college and waiting for the summer to pass blissfully in idleness before Uni in September declared boredom.  So I enlisted her to choose any fabrics from my stash, yes, really, ANY fabrics, showed her the picture of what we were going to make, and set her to work cutting away.  She was quite surprised at just how easy it was to wind the dies through the Sizzix Big Shot Plus, how well each Bigz die cut the fabrics the same shape every time and how fast we had everything cut ready for piecing.

The advantage of having help, that can sew, but chooses not to, is you realize just how important that 1/4" seam is.  Despite the accurate cutting, if the piecing isn't accurate, then the results are not going to be as pleasing.  Good job I know how to sew the seam accurately!

A happy compromise of me sewing, and the teenager pressing was agreed.  In no time at all, we were deciding on borders to make the block slightly bigger for a cushion. Quilted the block, and soon had a cushion.

We used the following equipment:

657611 Half Square Triangle 2 1/2" finished  (watch the video, it has great tips for cutting!)

The block comes out at 16" finished, we added 1/2" finished accent to border the block, and 2 1/2" outer border.  Once quilted the cushion top was trimmed down to 20".

Things to remember with shapes like the trapezoid is to layer fabrics with either right or wrong sides together, so you get a left and a right shape.  If all your fabrics are layered on the die all facing the same direction, you will only get one shape, not its reverse as well.

I hope you'll have a go at this block, it was really quick to make, and for me is filled with happy memories of a pleasant afternoon of stitching harmony with my daughter.

Owl and Fox card

Hello everyone, It's Anna posting today.
I love looking at my dies and trying to figure out different and unique ways to use them.
If you know me then you know I love most things that are animal related but when it involves owls and foxes my interest is really peaked! :D
I created this cards for kids birthday for charity, using more Sizzix dies design by Craft Asylum. These dies are so easy to put together and when you adhere one to the card it’s adorable!
This cute little owl makes me so happy. I sure hope he makes the card recipient happy, too!
The sentiment “buon compleanno” in Italian is “happy birthday”.

l think he/she is so cute and a perfect companion for my Woodgrain background.
The card front has a hole and you can see the inside owl. I die cut a circle using Framelits to make the hole.

Per le amiche italiane! :)
