Quick Knits!

Don't worry, I'm not getting my knitting needles out. In fact the last time I used knitting needles was to drum along to the song 'Born to Hand jive' by Sha-na-na which was featured in the movie 'Grease' as I'm sure you all know? I remember it like it was yesterday but it was actually some time around Christmas 1978!!!

It is September already which means the kids are back in school and it's time to turn our attention to Christmas and all our new festive collections.

Tim Holtz never disappoints at this time of year and he has come along with another classic collection which dovetails nicely with last years collection too. Do you remember the lovely Nordic knitting pattern embossing folders? well now we can enjoy them in die form too.

I know that the title says Quick Knits and that is because I came into the office today thinking that it was a Tuesday! my mental calendar is a bit out of sync thanks to the recent bank holiday here in the UK so I had to come up with a quick yet effective blog idea, I hope you approve?

The Thinlits Holiday Knit set is one that you will be seeing an awful lot of in the coming months I'm sure as it is super versatile. I measured the length and width of the die I wanted to use, added the two measurements together and cut a square of kraft card in that size.

As you can see the level of detail is fabulous and this might be a good time to invest in the Sizzix Die Brush which removes all those pesky bits of card from your dies in the twinkling of an eye.

Once I had made my first cut the rest was easy, it makes a great festive frame! The magnetic platform was a great help too as it held the die in place while cutting.

I measured the square in the centre of the frame and cut another square of kraft card slightly smaller. Next I die-cut the large star from the Festive Scribbles Thinlits Set (It's Fab!) and the word 'Joyful' from the Holiday Words Script 2 Thinlits Set.

Time to add a bit of colour. I'm Using 'Broken China' Distress Paint applied with a brayer.

If you don't load too much paint onto the brayer you can add it gradually to achieve a more random effect.

Finally a bit of white chalky paint added in the same way before matting them together.

Phew! That was a quick turn around thanks to my trusty Big Shot. I promise to spend a little more time and care next week although I'd be more than happy if this card dropped through my letter box come December.

Back to school with Sizzix

Welcome back Crafter!
How was your holiday ??

I'm ready for a new year to spend among paper, scissors, glue, big shot and a lot of new punches to try.

Today I want to share with you a project I'm working on my brand, but you can also make your own if you have a good manual.

My daughter Eleonora always complains that his copybooks for school does not like, does not like the cover, designs, patterns, and then I tried to revisit them, adding some applications and creating various shapes with dies.

NECESSARY:
- a copybook
- color cardstock
- pencil
- white pencil
- marker pen
- ruler
- stick glue
- scissors
- paper puncher (different sizes)

I enjoyed a lot!
You can try to move the eyes of the image in different directions and you will realize how many different animals can give life to your copybook.

And now create!
next Tuesday with a new project!

*per i lettori italiani*

Bentornati crafter!

E adesso sbizzarritevi!

OCCORRENTE:
- un quaderno
- cartoncino colorato
- matita
- matita bianca
- tratto pen
- righello
- colla stick
- forbici
- perforatore per carta (varie misure)

al prossimo martedì con un nuovo progetto!

Cat Lay-out by Romy

Hello Sizzix fans!

It's my turn to share a new Sizzix project with you today. Since World Animals Day is just around the corner, I figured I would create a lay-out about our cat Paco. We often call him 'Pacemans', so that's why I used this name as the title for my lay-out.

I embellished my lay-out with a lot of die-cut images. I  used both beautiful dies from Sizzix and the new Sizzix butterfly punch.

Sizzix products:

I used the beautiful Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die Eyelet Lace & Scallops to cut out three scalloped borders, which I attached below my photo. I gently folded the scallops for a more dimensional look. After that, I cut out two large butterflies with the Bigz die that is part of the Big Shot Plus Starter Kit. The blue branch was also cut out with this die.

I also punched several small butterflies from black paper with the Paper Punch Butterfly Large. I arranged all butterflies on my lay-out in a rather random way.

I wanted to add a few hearts to my lay-out as well and the heart shape in the Bigz die from the Big Shot Plus Starter Kit was just perfect for that. I cut out three hearts from red paper with this die. I finally added a title in the right lower corner of my lay-out. I used the Thinlits Die Set Alphanumeric to cut the letters from black paper. I just love the bold font of this alphabet and thought it suited our 'tough' cat quite well.

I hope you enjoyed my blogpost.
Do you ever scrap your pets? If not, I hope I could inspire you to do so more often.
Happy crafting!

In Dutch:
Hallo Sizzix fans!

Ik heb alle vlinders vrij willekeurig over mijn lay-out verspreid opgeplakt.

Customize t-shirt for little girl

Hi friends!

Today we will see how to customize a t-shirt using our Big Shot Plus and different techniques, because we will make a part with stamps and fabric paint and other sewing.

The stamps are a convenient way to personalize the t-shirts, especially if you need to make several equal. The patch in question will give you a romantic and a personal touch.

You needs:

Cut a square of fabric of the right size for the die and paste interfacing behind with the iron. Cut with the Big Shot.

To make the stamp cut the letters foam  using the Big Shot and Alphabet Die. Mark a line on the cardboard that would serve as a guide and paste the letters with the white glue, paying attention to remaining mirror. Let dry.

Cut the cardboard leaving a margin of about 1 cm around the text. Place a plastic bag inside the T-shirt to protect the back, spread on the table and fix it with tape so that it does not move.

Measure the center and with a ruler and tape define the space where we have to put the stamp. Distribute the fabric paint on a brush in the stamp, place it in the right place and press. Let dry.

Glue the shape of fabric with the fabric glue distributing the glue carefully over the entire surface. Let dry. Then, I stitch the edge with small stitches for safety, and drew some details with the textile marker, but both steps are optional.

A tip: wash the T-shirt following the indications of the paint manufacturer to preserve it.

What do you think? See you next week with more original ideas to optimize our Big Shot!

Ciao amici!

Mini Happiness

Hi everybody!

Today, I suggest a mini album, full of sun, in which you could scrap your holidays pictures. For example the ones took this summer.

A polka-dot yellow cover and a binding with rings allow this mini to collect a maximum of photos.

I played with the materials by incorporating fabric, cork, transparency and wood.

I used for the cover the the die " Garden greens " of Tim Holtz in white paper, on which I stamped pink ink by means of foam square. But inside the album, I used the same die with navy blue binding cloth to add contrast to the bright colours of my pictures.

To bring dynamism to the layout I alternated small and large pictures.

The journaling is written either free-handed with black gel-ink pen or with cut words in white paper using the die friendship of Tim Holtz.

I cropped embellishments and I stuck them with 3D foam to add relief to the cover.

I hope this mini will have inspired you, see you soon.

Mini Happiness
