Starting a Kaleidoscope Quilt

Hi everyone!Today I come back with a new project, something new to me.
When I got some dies, last September, from Sizzix it was as Santa came before Xmas! I looove opening  the packages and find new dies to try. Kaleidoscope has been one of them. So I could´t to wait  and started a new quilt with some of my favorite vintage style fabrics!

First I chose my fabrics for background ( dotted ) and  triangles ( vintage in red, yellow and green) and cut out before using the Big Shot Plus in two sizes for the big triangles and for the little ones.

With this die you can get a 6 1/2 " finished block.

You can fold the fabrics and lay each one on the die. Here you can see the different pieces before sewing.

I wanted to share  a trick to save fabric. After you get the triangles cut, open de fabric and  you can find something more you can save. Just  select that rest of it and lay again on the die.

In just some minutes you will get a good amount of pieces cut out!!

Now time to sewing each bock. Remember you have to do it alternating the direction of the big triangles !!

Then, sew on a row. There are seven blocks in each one.
And again sew the rows together.

Here it is what I have done at this moment , 21 blocks sewn. I´m in love with this beginning , especially because I already can see some " kaleidoscope " image.

I hope I can show   you more  progress  in two weeks.
Have a nice autumn weekend!!
Love
Mercedes

Wonderland layout

Hi Sizzix friends!

It’s Friday again so Raquel is here. Today I want to show you a special layout and I’m so excited because I’ve used some of the new dies I’ve just received!!! The Back to nature#2 designed by Emily Atherton, the Happy trims designed by Debbie Potter and the Holiday Words by Tim Holtz.

It is a clean and simple layout, with beautiful dies and a special picture to remember a special day. I love scrapbooking for this !!!

Here are some pictures of the new dies and the die-cutting result:

I’ve die-cut in white cardstock these two dies the 660058 and the 660868. The heart trim is fantastic, after die-cutting I get the trim and lot of little hearts!!!

I’ve die-cut felt, dark grey and kraft cardstock using the beautiful 660822 die!!!

And now, here are some details of the LO:

The felt die-cut leave.

The heart trim at the bottom of the picture backgroun and a piece of the leave die-cut.

I’ve added some of the little hearts, result of the die-cut the trim heart, on the picture.

I’ve used the wonderland die-cut as a title of my layout , glued to a banner and a piece of burlap.
(I would like to live in a place like this!)

It takes time to glue the little flying hearts but the result worth it!!!

I have used the following Sizzix products:

I hope you liked this Wonderland layout and that it has given you a bit of inspiration. Thank you for your visit!

Have a creative and happy Friday!

Feliz y creativo viernes

Sparkle & Shine Christmas cards

Hi Everyone! This is Anna.
I cannot believe we have reached October already! Maybe it isn’t such a strange idea to be thinking about Christmas cards right now ;)
Here are two cards that I created using some Thinlits dies from Winter Wonderland collection by Craft Asylum.
When I make Christmas cards, I tend to like to use non-traditional Christmas colors…

christmas-card-sizzix-big shot-deer by cafecreativo (2)

For this card, I started with my pink base, that I created with spray ink.
I die cut the deer from gold glitter paper. I added the sentiment from the same collection. I die cut "joy" from card and then I glued above vellum banner.
Isn't the deer so cute?

For this card, I used the new Christmas trees dies. I love the little trees in this set! The sentiment is from the same collection. I die cut it from white paper and glue above vellum, to create the feeling of a chilly card.
I added tiny stars and rhinestone.

Ciao a tutti!

Ho aggiunto quindi qualche stellina e uno strass.

Buon week end!
Al prossimo Venerdì!

Newish - Kaleidoscope die

Now it's October and the days are shorter it's time to look at some of our latest dies before starting on Christmas projects.
This week I'm showing the Kaleidoscope die - 660182, its not the latest die but I haven't used it yet -  http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/660182/sizzix-bigz-l-die-kaleidoscope-6-1-2-assembled
I can remember as a child being fascinated with a kaleidoscope viewer, and would look at it for a long time - this doesn't have quite the versatility - but with the use of different colours you will be able to create a diverse pattern.
For this blog I am only using 4 fabrics because it is just to show how the die shapes create the pattern.
For each block you will need  25 x13cm/10" x 5" of fabrics 1 and 2 and 18 x 9cm/7" x 3 1/2" of fabric 3
Using the die and the Big Shot (http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/660200/sizzix-big-shot-machine-only-white-gray) or Big Shot plus (http://www.sizzix.co.uk/product/660020/sizzix-big-shot-plus-machine-only-white-gray) cut 4 large triangles from fabrics 1 and 2, and cut 4 small triangles in fabric 3 -
(the small triangle is a lighter blue - but doesn't show up too well on this background)
Join the large triangles together in pairs-

then join the pairs together -

and then join the 2 halves together -

Stitch the small triangles to the four corners to complete the block -

Press the whole block -

At this point you can either make more blocks using the same fabrics and alternating which fabric you add the small triangle to - or you could make all the blocks in different fabrics - making a lovely kaleidoscope of colour - the choice is yours!
For now I have just made 2 different blocks -
I might make up some more of these and see where the colours lead me, and I can already see the beginning of an illusion of a curve - so this could be fun, but that's all I have time for now.
I'm off to enjoy a bit more of this late sunshine!
Next week I'm demonstrating the ~Big Shot Machines, and the Bigz dies at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, alongside Lady Sew and Sew - sorry I don't know the stand number - but do come and say hello.

Neon layout by Karine

Hello!

Are you up to a touch of neon to start October under the sign of color and good mood? I dived back with pleasure into my Neon kit which I used for a project I showed you last month :-)

Supply list:

Papers: Custom & Craft
Cardstock: American Crafts
Stickers: American Crafts, Heidi Swapp, Custom & Craft
Labels, dots: Ephéméria
Masking Tape: Hema
Izink: Aladine
Stabilo Pen68

Dies:

650515 : Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit
660320 : Sizzix Accessory -Precision Base Plate for intricate Thinlits Dies
660837 : Sizzix Framelits Plus Die Set 10PK-bunting
655128 : Sizzix Bigz Alphabet Set 7Dies-Serif Essentials

For this page I wanted to keep the atmosphere of the Custom & Craft papers, adding a touch of neon with Izink inks and the labels from Ephéméria!

I started by gluing my picture, stickers all around the picture and adding color with Izink inks and Stabilo Pen68 felt-tip pens. The stage is now set.

I cut small triangles out of paper scraps with my super die “Sizzix Framelits Plus Die Set 10PK-bunting”!!!! I love this new product and you shall find it on lots of my future creations!

And with the marvelous Alphabet die, I cut a “&” shape.

Then I added some splashes and some neon touches here and there to add some volume!

Time for pictures now!

Have a lovely day!

Karine

Bonjour !

Papiers : Custom&Crafts
Cardstock : American Crafts
Stickers : American Crafts, Heidi Swapp, Custom&Craft
Etiquettes, pastilles : Ephéméria
Masking Tape : Hema
Izink : Aladine
Stabilo Pen68

Dies :

650515 : Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit
660320 : Sizzix Accessory -Precision Base Plate for intricate Thinlits Dies
660837 : Sizzix Framelits Plus Die Set 10PK-bunting
655128Sizzix Bigz Alphabet Set 7Dies-Serif Essentials

Karine
