Creating Curves - part 3

HI, Trudi here from Quilting Prolifically, back from the excitement of Quilt Market in Houston.

So I finally got my quilt on with my quilt top.  I've named this one 'curves not curves'.

I started off with these dies:

659838 Bigz Square 4 1/2"
659832 Bigz Half Square Triangle 4 1/2" pieced
659853 Bigz L Isosceles & Right 4 1/2" H
657611 Bigz Half Square Triangle 2 1/2" pieced

and a plan.

I made 2 different blocks, you can see them in this post.

I made my top completely from scraps, so the Sizzix Big Shot Plus was great for cutting the shapes.

The next dilemma was how to quilt it.  I always had a plan to quilt curves into the piecing to accentuate the curve and take your eye away from those straight lines of the piecing.

So I added curved lines in the orange peel section, extending them all the way to the half square triangles and filled the curves with feathers.

In the center curved square area I used curved cross hatching to highlight the curves even more.

I am really pleased with the overall effect the quilting has had on changing the straight lines into curves.

Its funny what your eye will pick up and see, but choose to ignore.

I also extended the quilting out into the borders to continue the curved story of this quilt.  I think it worked well.

So next time you fancy doing a curved quilt, but don't fancy dealing with the curves, try piecing in straight lines, but quilting the curves in to create the curved effect.

I hope you'll come back next month to see what inspiration has struck!

Oh Christmastree... oh Christmastree {Christmas Decoration}

Hello there...

this week i've been in a christmas mood.
Only a few days and it is time to let the christmas thing in...

Lets welcome it with handmade decoration...

The first thing i made this year is a christmas tree - and it is so
easy - your kids can make it too...

All you need is:
Sizzix Framelits Die Set 6PK - Hearts
Sizzix Framelits Die Set 5PK - Stars
Wire,
liquid glue
glitter, glitter, glitter

Cut out 6 hearts each size, 6 stars (the smallest one), fold them and glue
them together (there you can use normal glue).

Model the wire (i wound it around my pencil). Put it into the tree and fix
the star on.

Now run the liquid glue all over the tree and put the glitter on.

Have a wonderful weekend, Stephanie

50th wedding anniversary card

Hi Sizzix friends!!!

Some days ago a couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. It’s an important milestone in their lives that they wanted to celebrate so I created a greeting card with an inside pocket for the present.

I’ve played with white and gold colour because in my country this anniversary is called “the gold wedding” and of course with lots of Sizzix dies !!!

It’s a big card sized 13,5 x 19,5 cm. To create it I’ve used the round circles Framelits, the leaves 660821 and 660822, Heartfelt and the Alphanumeric Thinlits. For the background I’ve used the embossing folder Plus Happy Texture.

Some pictures of the details with some explanations:

First I’ve die-cut the circle on the background white cardstock (that is 5mm smaller than the card size) creating a round hole on the cardstock and then I’ve made the embossment.

Then I’ve die-cut the round sparkly frame using two sizes of circle dies. The flowery paper is between the card and the white embossed cardstock.

I’ve die-cut two hearts in white cardstock and then I’ve repeated the same process that I’ve used for the frame to create the rings.

I’ve also die-cut a pair of leaves in white cardstock to give volume.

When you open the card there is a pocket that contains an envelope. To decorate the pocket I’ve die-cut the names of the couple in sparkly paper using the alphanumeric die.

Here are the envelope details:

I’ve die-cut this white heart and made the embossment so I can use it as the closure of the envelope.

I’ve created this envelope using vellum paper.

Here is the top view of the wedding card I’ve created for the celebration:

I have used the following Sizzix products:

Other supplies:
  • White cardstock
  • Scrapbooking paper
  • Sparkly paper
  • Vellum paper
  • Gold chipboard numbers
  • Gold string

I hope you have enjoyed this clean and simple wedding anniversary card and that it has given you a bit of inspiration. Thank you for your visit!

Have a creative and happy Friday!

He utilizado los siguientes productos Sizzix:

Otros materiales:
  • White cardstock
  • Scrapbooking paper
  • Sparkly paper
  • Vellum paper
  • Gold chipboard numbers
  • Gold string

Espero que os haya gustado esta tarjeta "clean and simple y que os sirva de inspiración. ¡Gracias por la visita!

Feliz y creativo viernes

Curvaceous fan blade

l

As promised I've come back to this design with the fan blade -

but this time I have stitched the fan blades together to create curves rather than circles -
I have done this by stitching 4 blades together as shown above, and then stitching the next 4 together in the opposite direction -
to create a corner stitch 7 blades together in the same direction, before reversing to create the opposite curve -
This is obviously still a work in progress - so I hope to show you a finished cushion cover next week - and maybe the first of some items for Christmas - it all depends on how fast the clock ticks this week!!!
Enjoy the cosy evenings - and plan something nice.

Summer mini book by Karine

Hello!

Today let me show you a mini book that will make the best of your beautiful summer pictures! There will be material with an imitation wood cover; there will be color and a touch of magic thanks to Brushos!

Supply list:

Papers, chipboards: Gossamer Blue
Alphabets: Webster's Pages
Cream-colored frame: Ephéméria
Cardstock: Ephéméria
Dots, metal corners: Ephéméria
Stamps: Craft Origine, Florilèges Design
Inks: Studio Calico, Versafine noire

Dies:

650515:  Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit
660320:  Sizzix Accessory -Precision Base Plate for intricate Thinlits Dies
660980:  Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 5PK-festive-scribbles
660826:  Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 2PK-Love&Wishes 2
660871:  Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 4pk-tag-phrases
660233:  Sizzix Bigz Die-Heartfelt
656616:  Sizzix Bigz Alphabet Set 2 Dies-serif-essentials-numbers

In the inner cover, I cut the number 4 out of a tag, to decorate my first picture. The tag had previously been worked with Brushos. Surely you will find the scooped-out tag on the third double page! Nothing’s lost in scrapbooking! You can use everything!

I used the Love&Wishes die to cut the small word Love. It is also added on the first picture.

On one of the large picture, I cut the word “made with love” thanks to the sublime die “Tag Phrases”. All you will have to do next is glue a small piece of pattern paper underneath to make your die cut stand out.

Cut small hearts with “Heartfelt” die and color them with Brushos.

I cut two shapes (star and circle) out of white cardstock thanks to the festive scribbles set. As you can notice, you can use Christmas dies for any occasion!

Here are some pictures of the mini book.

Have a lovely day,

Karine

Bonjour !

De retour aujourd'hui avec un mini album pour mettre en valeur de belles photos estivales ! De la matière avec une couverture impression bois, de la couleur et encore une fois une touche de magie avec les Brushos !

Matériel :

Papiers, chipboards : Gossamer Blue
Alphabets : Webster's Pages
Cadre crème : Ephéméria
Cardstock : Ephéméria
Pastilles, angles métal : Ephéméria
Tampons : Craft Origine, Florilèges Design
Encres : Studio Calico, Versafine noire

Dies :

650515:  Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit
660320:  Sizzix Accessory -Precision Base Plate for intricate Thinlits Dies
660980:  Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 5PK-festive-scribbles
660826:  Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 2PK-Love&Wishes 2
660871:  Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 4pk-tag-phrases
660233:  Sizzix Bigz Die-Heartfelt
656616:  Sizzix Bigz Alphabet Set 2 Dies-serif-essentials-numbers

Karine
