Fall Tree or Christmas Tree?

Hi Sizzix fans!

Have you seen the beautiful Bigz Die Evergreen already? It's one of my favourite dies, especially because it is very versatile and can be used in many different ways.
Today I will show you how you can use this tree either on a fall card or on a Christmas card.

My first card is a typical fall card featuring warm colours and many cut out leaves.

Sizzix products (for both cards):
Tim Holtz Postage Stamp Frame Die

The basis of this card was made with the Tim Holtz Postage Stamp Frame Die. I then cut out the tree from wood patterned paper with the Bigz Die Evergreen and heavily inked the edges to make it stand out more. The sentiment in the center of my card consists of a chipboard piece and a ticket, which I cut out with the smallest die from the Framelits Die Set Tickets. I further decorated my card with several leaves cut out with the Thinlits Die Set Floral Wreath to give my card an autumn feel.

On my second card I used the same die to create a Christmas tree instead of a fall tree. By using a different combination of colours and stars instead of leaves, I managed to create a very different look while using the same tree die.

The basis of this card is the same as for the previous card. I only used the circle die from the Thinlits Die Set Festive Scribbles for the central element on my card and I decorated my card with tiny stars instead of leaves. The stars are all cut out with the smallest die from the Framelits Die Set Stars.

I hope you are as excited about this die as I am and that I could inspire you with my cards.
Thank you very much for stopping by on the Sizzix blog today!

In Dutch:
Hoi Sizzix fans!

Tim Holtz Postage Stamp Frame Die

How to make a stencil with the Big Shot

 Hi friends!

Usually we use our Big Shot to cut all kinds of objects and decorations, and We also saw how to make foam stamps, but ... you can use our dies to make a stencil? The answer is yes! With a little trick we can do stencils with our Sizzlits dies, even those with several closely spaced shapes.

You need:

  1. Cut the piece of vinyl that we will use, considering that it should be a margin around the figure to not dirty with the paint. Place on the die, with the vinyl side down, and cut.
  2. Cover with masking tape (in the vinyl side) all the cuts that have been around that are not the chosen figure. Remove the vinyl die from the central figure.
  3. When we want to use the stencil, simply remove the paper protecting from the adhesive part of the vinyl and paste our stencil in the desired position. With a sponge or stiff brush loaded with little paint we tapped on the stencil, remove, and voila!

We can use the stencil several times, while the adhesive keeps sticking and small parts do not break. I used it to decorate a Christmas ornament: felt gloves with winter motives.

What do you think? Easy right? Until next week with a new tutorial!

Ciao amici!

Boy version

Hi everybody!

Today, I propose you a different version of the chipboard realized weeks ago.

Following the success of this project, I decided to realize a new one with the little face of my nephew Timéo!

I started with the same support and same layout of the papers but this time with a dominance of blue and grey, I added brightness with a touch of mustard colour. The collection Sydney Swirlcards was perfect!

I chose to add volume using 2 rosettes realized with the Die "Rosette" of Tim Holtz.

Moreover I added a very discreet touch of pink, as the cap on the picture was of this colour…

There is a lovely present which will be offered quickly!

Paper: Swirlcards
Wooden Stars: Studio Calico
Buttons and Twin: Scrapboukits

Have a good day,

*************

Romantic gift box and gift tag

Hi everybody! Elena here.

Today I want to show you a little gift box in a very romantic style.

Supply list:

To make the gift tag I have die cut two sixes of the scallop circle in two different card colours and have glued them together. Then I have rolled the rose and adhered to the middle of the tag, punched the two leaves and glued them behind the rose. This gives a very romantic look to the box but clean and modern at the same time.

I hope you like this box and gift tag!

Elena

..........................

Elena

LONE STAR MINI QUILT: FINISHED!

Dies used: Diamonds, 2 1/2in (2 3/4in x 6 1/2in Unfinished)
                 Half-Square Triangles, 2 1/2in Finished Square
                 Square, 4in Finished (4 1/2in Unfinished)

Hello again!

There were only a couple of jobs left to do to finish my Lone Star mini quilt. So that it can be hung on the wall easily and lie flat against it, it needed a couple of pockets on the back to fit a baton in. I cut a couple of 4 1/2in squares on my Big Shot Plus, pressed them in half diagonally and basted them in the top two corners on the reverse of the quilt.

The binding was then sewn on and a baton cut to size and fitted into the back pockets.

And then all that was left was to hang it on the wall. It's finished size is approximately 27 1/2in square.

I love the 'rings' of diamonds that make up the star, it is such a striking shape and it really brightens up the room. I want to make a huge one now and cutting all of the diamonds out with my Big Shot will make it SO much easier!

Happy sewing, see you next time!

*Per i lettori italiani*

Buongiorno amici creativi.

Carta regalo
Cartoncini (marrone, satinato argento, satinato oro)
Forbici
Scotch
Spago (crema e oro)
Nastro biadesivo

Perle adesive
Pinzette

Finito! :)
Buona domenica
