Stitches 2012, part 2

 By Paula Pascual

As promised part two of Stitches 2012 Sizzix Booth. I am only sharing the areas I worked on, but hopefully Pete will be sharing soon the areas he work on, which are the really cool ones!

Hero Arts collection, sets of red rubber stamps and Framelits, any stamper knows of Hero Arts and the match with Sizzix makes them a must for every crafter.

Greetings, a collection perfect for some one who likes to make cards, mini albums and delicate projects. This collection has Bigz and Sizzlits dies and absolutely gorgeous Textured impressions folders.

Sweet treats, the sweetest collection I worked on for sure, specially when I had to buy all those sweets to fill up glass jars. Besides, as Eileen Hull dies most of them are Bigz ScoreBoards which means that they word really well with chipboard and mount board.

And I could not finish my Stitches 2012 round up without sharing this photo of the Christmas Club:

Steve (the carpenter/builder/handyman who made all the units for the Stitches booth),
Paula (little old me) and Pete Hugues

You may wonder why it is the Christmas Club, well, as some of you may know Pete was born on Christmas day, so was Steve and so was I, although different years may I add. Incredible coincidence still, don't you think?

Thankful Card

 By Loredana Bucaria

Hi everyone!
A new week starts and I am happy to share with you a new project :)
Very easy and simple!
Do you remember the lovely pillow made some weeks ago?
Well I want to show you the same technique to create a card this time! ;)

Materials you need:

  • neutral color card in the size you prefer
  • 5/6 patterned papers ( I used Color conspiracy everyday papers)
  • strass
  • a phrase stamp
  • thankful stamp
  • black ink pad
  • a tag
  • glue or double side tape
  • big shot machine
  • bow , create a flower die
  • framelits circle ( I am mad about them!)
I want to tell  a story... nobody believes me when I say that I have some little problems to create cards, I don't know why but I feel nervous sometimes when I have to make a card! LOL
So I think that the the sizzix shapes are helping me sooo much!!!! So simple to use and so useful when you don't have in mind what you'll create ;)

STEP 1- Choose 5 or 6 patterned papers and use your build a flower shape :) You will have many petals to fold in a half.

STEP 2 - Choose and other paper for the circle and cut it in half
STEP 3 - Stick the half circle to the card and add the petals around it :) sooo simple!
STEP 4 - Inside the circle stamp with your favorite  phrase stamp , the effect  it's very cool!
STEP 5 - Add strass to give light to the card and the tag with the thought "Thankful for you"

Very easy, very quick, very funny!!!

The card:)

Some details

Try to make this card:)

Have a wonderful Monday!

Stitches 2012!

 By Paula Pascual

One of my favourite events out of the crafting year is Stitches, the UK and EU trade show. It is such a buzz! It takes a lot of work and whole team to put together, Pete and I just make the samples, but I think I can say that we had such a blast doing them. Besides, I got to meet our fellow blog designer the lovely Paivi.
Here you have some show photos of the areas that I work on:

Framelits in the journal - why not?

 By Anna DÄ…browska

What I really love about Framelits is that I can use them in almost all kinds of my usual creations: scrapbook pages, tags, mixed-media projects...and my art-journal too. The elegant, detailed frames look just amazing in the mixed-media surrounding of gesso, Distress Stains and a little bit of messy stitching... But first, time to play!
Why not adding some embossing an d a little bit of colour on this beautiful winged frame?

For this project I used Framelits  - Frame - Shield with Crown&Wings (657559):

Using Distress Embossing Ink (Ranger) and some clear Embossing powder (Heat it Up!) I've made a nice dot pattern on the cut out element.

Next I heated and melted the embossing powder with my heating tool....

... and colored the paper frame with 3 shades of Distress Stain (Ranger): Scattered Straw, Broken China and Bundled Sage.

Here is the final effect, ready to be distressed a bit with a dark ink on the edges. The clear embossed pattern keeps the parts of the paper uncolored while the rest of the frame is now in the shades of the Distress Stain I'd used for painting. Cool and fun effect!

Now the element is ready to be placed in the composition... I decided to make ajournal page in my old, grungy art-journal. I love experimenting and expressing my feelings on the pages of this handmade book. Here is the "general project"...

And here is the final result with handwritten journaling, painted with Distress Stains, stamped with Archival Jet Black Ink, Distressed on the edges and stitched.

As a finishing touch I added some yellow Twine and few yellow acrylic drops. The same dot pattern I used for embossing I stamped on the background too - to make nice looking "negative" effect.
Here you can see more details of the project:

I wish you all a wonderful, creative week! I hope I inspired you a bit to experiment with your dies and cut-outs... the sky is the limit!
xoxo

Crazy dimensions with Framelits:)

 By Anna DÄ…browska
Hi there!
This is my first blogpost here on Sizzix blog and I'm more than excited to share my projects and ideas:) I hope we'll have a great creative time together!
I simply love detailed, non-conventional projects and Sizzix dies give so many possibilities of  creating something really unique in easy and convinient way. Most of the times I don't add to my projects a lot of pre-made elements - I enjoy making them by myself - and Sizzix products are perfect for that. Here is a project I made for this blogpost - I went a bit crazy with dimensions and I loved that look very much!

To make this project I took pieces of scrapbooking paper - 2 smaller and one big, perfect to be the background for the scrapbook page. I also took the old family photo and Framelits die - Frame: Square with ornate edges (657560).

Using one of the smaller dies from the set I cut the photo...

... and using all shapes from this set I got a frame and few small pieces of paper - perfect for building the dimension on the page.

My next step was building up the composition - for my cinvinience, to knowa what I am going for. The final result may be a little different, but I think this planning step is helpful...

Next I stamped the background with vintage stamp set (7 Gypsies) and sepia Archival Ink (Ranger)  and put a layer of gesso. When it was dry i couls add some more color splashes (Ranger Distress Stain and Tattered angels Glimmer Mist). I inked all the edges of the paper cut-outs with Distress Ink (Ranger).

Using a 3D foam I started to build dimensional composition from pieces and strips of paper.

I continued adding the 3D foam with every layer, adding some tulle between the layers too. The last layer was the photo.

I prepared embellishments - lace, metal clips and other elements, pebbles, drops. I used Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die - Mini Paper Rosettes (657177) to cut out and form a nice looking mini-rosette too.

Finally, using clear glue and some more 3D foam I finshed the layout composition. It is a multi - dimensional, eclectic page, inspired by vintage and grunge style.

Here are some more details of the finished project:

I hope you like my idea  - in my opinion the Framelits are just perfect for this technique . They cut out wonderful sets of elements, going together  no matter what project you make: layout, album, journal page or card.

 See you soon again!

Party Fun: Create mustaches and mouths

 By Loredana Bucaria

Hi everyone!
Today I want to share with you a very funny idea for a party!
I love to prepare something cool for my parties but I don't have always the right time to do it so this is a super quick idea to use!

Materials you need:

  • Build a flower die (medium and big size petal)
  • Big Shot machine
  • 3 different colors of felt, red, fuchsia and black
  • Kitchen sticks
  • Hot glue gun
  • Fabric scissors

STEPS
  • Make a couple of red, fuchsia and black big petals and don't fold them, leave them opened. In this way you have two parts , the front and the back of mustaches and mouths.

  • Use the hot glue gun and put a drop of hot glue on the right side of a petal , glue the kitchen stick and the other petal.

  • Simply you will have created mouths and mustaches in a very quick way! For the mustaches cut in half the big petals and glue:)

Take a look about how I used them during a scrapbooking event to have fun!!

Have fun creating with the wonderful Sizzix dies and think new ways to use them :)

Happy Valentine's day

 By Loredana Bucaria

Hello everyone,
how are you?
Today is a lovely day, the Day of Love , Cupid and lovers and I am so happy to celebrate it with a sweet project to purpose you :)

If you don't have made anything yet for your love you are still in time to try this easy and quick idea to make a gift :)

I have created a card and a candy cone box for my dear hubby :)

Let's start to show you what I have made :) I had a lot of fun , hihihihihhi^__^

Materials you need:

For the card

  • white card stock
  • a patterned paper ( I used finally fall Apple holler from bella boulevard)
  • a piece of kraft paper
  • embellishiments ( I used sticker label and phrase stickers from the lovey dovey collection of bella boulevard, chipboards and tag from bella boulevard
  • twine maraschino
  • a heart
  • glue or double side tape
  • Big shot pro machine
  • Big shot machine
  • card ornate#3 die
  • Bingo playing games set A2 from Tim Holtz Alterations
For the box
  • brown card stock
  • white card stock for the scallop border
  • kraft card stock for the scallop border
  • double side tape
  • 3d double side tape
  • two  patterned papers of your choise ( I used finally fall Apple Holler  and sophisticates sprinkles and lace peep from Bella boulevard)
  • a ribbon (from may art)
  • hot glue gun
  • embellishments of your choise ( I used chipboards and stickers from lovey dovey and ciao chip from bella boulevard)
  • BIG SHOT PRO
  • Cone die

First of all I would like to say that the images on each die are very explicative to understand how to use the die so take a look at them and you will not have problems to create any box or package you want. ;)

I started creating the box first to have an idea on how to make the card in a coordinating color combo.
I chose the color combination of white - brown - pink - red! Really nice! Don't you think?

Use your Big shot pro... this machine is fabulous!!!... and in a second your cone will be done! Great! Make it for two times, the first one with a card stock and the second with a patterned paper and stick them one to another. You can stick them building the first cone and after rolling it into the second paper or you can first glue the cones and after close the only cone you have just built.

Now it's the time of the cone border, to make it use the shape in the cone die. Make it two times, one for the kraft card stock and the second for the white one. Stick the white pieces on the kraft pieces and after on the back put some pieces of 3d double side tape to make a dimensional border for your cone:)

Glue them on the four sides of the cone :)
Now have fun to decorate it with all the embellishments you like :)
At the end I have stick a piece of ribbon to hang the cone:) Glue it at two sides of the cone using the hot glue gun and cover the ends with a half circle of paper :) very cool!

And now it's time to show you the card :) So simple and nice :)
Simply use the card, ornate die on a sheet of white card stock and make the same thing on a piece of a patterned paper. In the center I inserted the bingo card made with the tim holts alterations dies :) perfect for the meaning of this card! I have made a bingo with you my love:) This would be the message I thought while I was creating;)

And now some more photos :)

Have a lovely and sweet Valentines Day!
Love Lory
