Framelits Flowers

Last weekend I had the pleasure of demonstrating at the Extravaganza event organised by The Craft Barn. I say pleasure because it was really well organised, and the people attending were very friendly and relaxed.

On the Saturday, my good friend and fellow blogger Paula payed a visit and later I went to her home to meet her husband Omar and of course Wasabi, her cat. I also got to peek in her craft room which is an Aladdin's cave crammed to the rafters with craft goodies. It is almost as well organised as my work area...almost!

Here we are again talking about Framelits dies, and I want to show you a neat trick for making 3D paper flowers.

First, Gather a sheet of olive green and ivory card, a set of Circle Framelits (657551) and a set of Circle, Scallop Framelits (657552)... and don't forget a twig!

Cut three different sizes of scallop circles and taking a pair of scissors, cut from the outside toward the centre in a spiral motion. I find it best to hold the scissors straight and turn the circle.

Next, Grip the edge where the cut was made between a pair if tweezers and start to roll the edge toward the centre, Roll into a cone and secure with a hot glue gun.

Die cut an olive circle and place the die back onto the circle to create a leaf shape, you can cut up to three leaves from a single circle depending on the sizes required. Repeat the steps until you have enough leaves and flowers.

Now it's time to attach the leaves to the flower and then artfully mount onto the twig with the hot glue gun. Pop the twig into a vase, bottle or jar of your choosing and maybe add some foliage. There are some great sprigs of plastic foliage on the market these days and they set things off beautifully.
