Botanical Flourish Card


Hi there,

It's been a while since I have posted a new project - the last few weeks I have been travelling through New Zealand! This was my 5th time teaching craft classes in New Zealand, I really love it there! This was also the first time I was able to really explore the country. So it was a fabulous trip!

Back onto the crafting I have to share today, it's a simple card, perfect for those times you need a beautiful card to send to a friend.

Instructions:
1. Stamp the Darkroom Door Grid Background Stamp onto a folded card using Archival Magenta Hue ink pad.
2. Trim two images from the Darkroom Door 'Viva La Flora' Montage sheet and adhere to the card using double sided adhesive.
3. Die cut a label using the Banner & Borders Thinlits #658788 using light pink cardstock. Stamp a sentiment onto the label from the Darkroom Door 'Etched Flowers' Rubber Stamp Set using Archival Jet Black ink pad. Adhere to the card using 3D foam adhesive.
4. Die cut some green foliage using the Botanical Flourish #658226 die and tuck it in behind the label. Adhere it to the card using small dabs of wet glue.

Happy Birthday Long Label Card


Hi everyone! Today I have an easy card to share with you using the Sizzix Long Labels Thinlits Die #659131 and Darkroom Door Stamps!

The Long Labels dies are perfect for adding sentiments to cards! I know I'll be using this die a lot! Here's how I made this card:

1. Stamp the Darkroom Door Swirls Background onto light purple cardstock using Archival Deep Purple ink pad. Sponge the same ink around the edges using an ink blending tool. Adhere to green cardstock and then onto a folded dark purple card.
2. Die cut a label from the Long Labels #659131 Thinlits die set using green cardstock.
3. Stamp a sentiment from the Darkroom Door Simple Sayings stamp set using Archival Deep Purple inkpad. Adhere to the centre of the card to complete!

How simple is that! But the ornate ends of this die make it so beautiful. I love how these dies are great to use up left over pieces of card stock too, so you could die cut a lot of labels in advance just using left overs and have them on hand already when you need to make a card.

Banner & Borders Venetian Card


Hi, it's Rachel here today with a card I created using the Sizzix Banner & Borders Thinlits Die #658788 along with Darkroom Door stamps and images.

When I first saw this die set, I knew it would work really well for borders on cards. This card is only showing one of the dies. There's actually 4 in the set, so it's a really versatile set. Here's how I created the card:

1. Stamp the Darkroom Door Tickets Background Stamp onto cream cardstock using Archival Coffee inkpad. Lightly sponge around the edges of the card using the same ink.
2. Die cut the swirl border from Banner & Borders Thinlits Die #658788 using Kraft Glassine paper. Adhere it underneath a Darkroom Door Venetian Filmstrip and attach to the card.
3. Cut a word from the Darkroom Door Venetian Wordstrips and mount onto dark brown cardstock. Adhere to the card using foam tape.

Such a quick card to make, but looks great! I love how these dies can use up little strips of paper too. I have lots of little strips of cardstock and patterned paper left over from projects and these dies are perfect for using them up!

Darkroom Door & Sizzix Artist Trading Card Swap


 Hello!

Every month on the Darkroom Door blog we hold an Artist Trading Card swap. It's a great way for crafters to share a bit of their own artwork with other like minded crafters around the world and gain some new ideas and inspiration! Each month has a different theme. Recently one of the themes was 'Darkroom Door & Sizzix' where all the artists needed to use a Darkroom Door stamp or paper product combined with a Sizzix die or embossing folder.

Caged Bird Artist Trading Card



 Hi, it's Rachel here today to share a fabulous way Sizzix Dies and Embossing Folders can be used with Darkroom Door stamps. Every month on the Darkroom Door blog we host an Artist Trading Card swap. Each month has a different theme and recently the theme was 'Sizzix & Darkroom Door'! This means that all artists needed to use a Darkroom Door stamp with a Sizzix die or embossing folder. It was such a fun swap and the ATC's that were created were amazing!

Today I want to share one of the ATC's that was created by Godelieve Tijskens who lives in Belgium.

Godelieve started by making the heat emboss resist background, using Darkroom Door's Flourish Background stamp, WOW embossing powder and Dylusions Ink Spray.

Two different birds from the Darkroom Door Carved Birds Vol 2 set were stamped with Archival Ink #Vermillion, 5 times each, then cut out.  Words from the Darkroom Door Wildflowers Vol 1 stamp set were stamped with Archival Ink #Jet Black.

Godelieve used the Sizzix Bigz Caged Bird Die. She cut the cages and assembled the ATCs.  After everything was glued in place, Godelieve embossed an acetate cover for each ATC, using the Sizzix Notebook embossing folder. The Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher was used to secure the embossed acetate to the ATC's.

The corners were then rounded with a corner rounder punch. 

Darkroom Door has 2 sets with stamps to use on the back of your ATCs.  Godelieve used the Artist stamp set to fill out all her details.

Once they were all completed, Godelieve put the ATCs in a 9 pocket sleeve, ready to send in to the Darkroom Door headquarters to be swapped out with other artists!

Instant Photo Frame Card


Hi there! Today I have a card to share created by Connie Mercer from the Darkroom Door Creative Team. Connie has used the Instant Photo Frame Die 658460 along with Darkroom Door Stamps: "Possible" Quote stamp and the "Grid" Background stamp.

Connie stamped half of the Grid Background stamp on the white cardstock. Then layered the Instant Photo Frame over the grid. The quote was next and then continued adding embellishments to complete the card.

Movers and Shapers Camera Die Card


Hi there!

Today I'm sharing a card created by Godelieve Tijskens from the Darkroom Door Design team. Godelieve has created a photography themed car using the Vintage Alarm Clock & Camera Set Die with the Darkroom Door Film Frame Stamp. Awesome combination! 

 

Instructions:

1. Stamp the Film Frame Stamp several times onto white cardstock using Black Archival ink.

2. Mask around the edges of the Film Frame image with sticky notes and stamp the Pansies Photo Stamp using Achival Saffron (yellow) ink pad. Repeat on another frame.

3. Do the masking technique again for the other two film frames using the Frangipani Photo Stamp and Archival Rose Madder ink pad. 

4. Stamp 'click, click, click' using a stamp from the Darkroom Door Photography stamp set. 

4. Mount the entire piece onto black cardstock and then onto a folded pink card. 

5. Die cut the camera (Vintage Alarm Clock & Camera Set Die 657840) using black and grey cardstock. Attach to the card to complete!

Hello Scallops Card


Hi there crafters!

I have a quick and easy card to share with you today created by Godelieve Tijskens from the Darkroom Door Design Team. Godelieve has used the Scallops Sizzix On The Edge Die 656627 with the Darkroom Door Whimsical Words stamp set to create a cute little card :)

Instructions:
1. Die cut purple cardstock with the Sizzix Scallops On The Edge Die 656627.
2. Stamp 'Hello' and the small flower from Darkroom Door 'Whimsical Words' DDRS089 stamp set with Jet Black inkpad. Use a pen to add some stripes inside the words and flower.
3. Stamp the 'Stone' Background DDBS015 onto white cardstock. Stamp the bird from the Whimsical Words stamp set on top. Colour with pencils and ink pads. Adhere to the right side of the purple cardstock.
4. Adhere purple cardstock to corrugated cardstock. Staple black rope to the card. Adhere entire piece to folded grey card to complete!

Vintage Christmas Picture Wheel Ornament


Hi there! I can't believe it's almost December... time to really get started on some Christmas projects!! Today I have a great project to share by Connie Mercer who is on the Darkroom Door Creative Team. Connie has created some vintage style Christmas ornaments using the Sizzix Picture Wheel Die and Darkroom Door Dear Santa Montage images and stamps. Check it out:

 

 

Details from Connie: 

 I used the Darkroom Door Dear Santa Montage sheet and Stitched Christmas Rubber Stamps for the sentiments. The die is by Sizzix called Picture Wheel.  The Santa images from the Dear Santa Montage sheet are perfect for this.  You will need to trim down a little and then tape or glue them to the back of the picture wheel cut out.

 

 

After you have the images in, back it with a circle of burlap. 

I stamped out the sentiment and added embellishments, to complete the ornaments.

A little birdie told me...


Hi everyone! It's Rachel here with a card to share using the Sizzix Bow Strings Textured Impressions Embossing Folder 656975 and Darkroom Door stamps!

Here's how I made the card:

1. Emboss white cardstock using the Sizzix Bow Strings Embossing Folder.
2. Lightly sponge Archival Sepia ink over the top to highlight the texture.
3. Adhere to amber coloured card.
4. Stamp the birds branches from the Darkroom Door Love Birds DDRS057 stamp set onto white cardstock using Archival Sepia ink. Trim and adhere to the card.
5. Stamp the birds from the Darkroom Door Carved Birds Vol 2 stamp set DDRS118 onto white cardstock using Archival Saffron and Vermillion ink pads. Trim and adhere to the branches on the card.
6. Stamp the sentiment from the Darkroom Door Love Birds DDRS057 stamp set onto white cardstock using Archival Sepia ink. Mount onto amber cardstock and tear along the bottom just to give it a fluffy look :) Adhere to the card to complete!

I love this embossing folder - it almost looks like a willow tree!

Venetian Tag


Hi there! Today I have a fabulous tag by Darkroom Door Design Team member Godelieve Tijskens. Godelieve has used the Sizzix Tag & Bookplates die along with a selection of Darkroom Door stamps. Take a look: 

Godelieve created a pocket to hold another tag. Here's how she did it:

First she used Tim Holtz Alterations Die - Tag and Bookplates to cut a tag.  Punched holes and made a cut with a craft knife.  Stamped a background with Distress Ink #Pumice Stone and used several stamps from Darkroom Door's Venetian Vol 1 set.

Black cardstock and Darkroom Door Filmstrips are used to create a bookplate.

This tag has a metal tag from Tim Holtz, Darkroom Door Filmstrips #Venetian Vol 2.

Bird Branch Tag


Hi there! I have a gorgeous tag to share with you today created by one of the Darkroom Door Design Team members, Godelieve Tijskens.

Godelieve has used the Sizzix Bird Branch Die with the Darkroom Door 'Love Birds' stamp set to create a unique and fun tag! Check it out:

The background was created with Distress Inks, then stamped over the top with Darkroom Door's Sheet Music Background.

  The Bird Branch was cut out of kraft cardstock.

  

To give the branch some texture, it was stamped with the Darkroom Door Stone background stamp.  A great stamp for adding texture!

Photobooth Picture Wheel Card



Hi everyone, I have a fun project to share with you today from Darkroom Door Creative Team member Connie Mercer. 

Connie has used the Sizzix Tim Holtz Bigz Picture Wheel Die and Darkroom Door Photobooth images. It's a super fun way to use both of these products together! Let's see what Connie has created...

So get your supplies in front of you ~ photo booth, word strip, French Script Background Stamp and the Sizzix Picture Wheel die. You'll need ink too

First run the Picture Wheel die through your Big Shot machine using white cardstock.  Then ink around the edges with black ink, for shading.  It's a good idea to use one that is really dry so it's easy get a good shade, not a dark line. Select photo's (from photo booth sheet) with two people. You will need 6.

 Then cut them apart, like I have shown in the photo.

Now for the fun part. Use the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher and staple them in the frame and then cut off the excess.

This is how the back will look.

And here is Connie's finished card.  The size is 5" X 5"on Kraft cardstock.  Connie also stamped the patterned paper with the Darkroom Door French Script Background Stamp. Love that look!!!
