Felt Flower Pendant Necklace

Sizzix Bigz Dies are so versatile! These dies are designed to cut through fabric, chipboard, acetate, metallic foils and more. These dies are great for cutting felt by itself.

Today I wanted to share how you can create jewelry by simply using felt together with leather. I created a Pendant Necklace with my Big Shot Plus Machine and two dies.

Firstly cut out a Rose - Sizzix Bigz Die - Love Birds 3-D Rose (660834) - from felt and two Leaves from leather. If you use the Big Shot Plus, you can position two Bigz (or Bigz L) dies, thus save time!

To make flower: starting at the outside of the Flower, wrap the end around a wood dowel like a wooden skewer. When you finish rolling the Rose, remove the stick. Finish the Rose by adding the hot glue to the inside of the circular flap. Close the flap against the bottom loops of the Rose.

Layer two leaves of leather and glue (glue for leather). Glue the felt rose above the leaves. Glue or sew the stems of the leaves to create the loop.

Attach pendant to a chain to form a necklace.

 

 

You can do this using colour combination of your choice. It’s also a perfect gift for Christmas!

Le fustelle Bigz sono molto versatili! Come saprete, queste fustelle sono state progettate per tagliare tantissimi materiali come tessuto, cartone pressato, balsa, acetato, lamierino e molto altro. Sicuramente saprete che sono perfette per tagliare il feltro in modo preciso e netto, cosa che non avviene con le forbici. E tagliano anche il cuoio e la pelle!

Così oggi vorrei condividere come creare semplici bijoux utilizzando appunto feltro e pelle.

Infatti, ho creato un ciondolo grazie alla mia Big Shot Plus e due sole fustelle. Le foglie sono un classico di Sizzix mentre la rosa è una vera novità, si tratta della fustella Bigz - Love Birds 3-D Rose (660834). Bellissima! E’ grande e può essere usata in tantissimi modi.

In primo luogo tagliare una rosa dal feltro e due foglie dalla pelle. Se si utilizza la Big Shot Plus (in formato A4), è possibile posizionare ben due fustelle Bigz (o Bigz L), quindi si risparmia tempo!

Per fare il fiore: cominciando dall'esterno del Fiore, avvolgere l'estremità intorno a uno stecchino di legno. Dopo aver arrotolato tutta la Rosa, rimuovere lo stecchino. Incollare il retro del fiore con la colla a caldo, per fissare la rosa.

Sovrapporre le due foglie di pelle e incollare (usando colla per la pelle). Incollare quindi la rosa di feltro sopra le foglie. incollare o cucire i gambi delle foglie per creare l'asola.

Infilare il ciondolo in una catena per formare la collana. Finito!

Naturalmente potete usare una combinazione di colori a vostra scelta. Tenetelo presente come regalino veloce per Natale o altre occasioni!

Felt Ice Cream Keychain and Brooch

This week I am bringing you a project that will help use the fabric and felt scraps ;)

I made these jewels textiles. I thought it would be lovely to share a tutorial to make a small last minute gift for this summer.

 

 

I die-cut the bits and pieces using the new seasonal dies from Echo Park collection.

I chose ice cream to make a Keychain and some hearts to make a Brooch.

 

 

 

Make a textile brooch using leftover fabric and felt, it’s so perfect for a summer t-shirt!

 

Here’s how you do it:

Cut out one medium heart from felt, one small heart from your fabric.

Pin and sew the two hearts together.

Glue or sew on the back a strip of fabric and a piece of lace.

Add a button, a rhinestone and a decorated pin.

If you want to make a brooch sew a brooch bar onto the back. If you are making a keychain add the ribbon loop and keyring at the top and add a second heart on the back.

Blanket stitch around the edge of the heart with a contrasting thread colour.

Your brooch or keychain is finished!

Ciao, sono Anna di Café Creativo e sono felice di condividere anche oggi un nuovo progetto!

Questa settimana vi mostro un progetto che contribuirà all'utilizzo degli avanzi di stoffa e feltro, che si accumulano sempre.

Ho realizzato, infatti, dei bijoux tessili, molto simpatici ed adatti all'estate, che si possono realizzare con pochi materiali, anche in vacanza ;) Ho pensato, quindi, che sarebbe stato carino condividere un piccolo tutorial...

Ho tagliato i vari pezzi utilizzando le nuove fustelle della collezione Echo Park. Tra tutte le bellissime forme delle fustelle Bigz, oggi ho scelto il gelato per fare un portachiavi - grigri e i cuoricini per fare una spilla. Ma ci sono anche deliziose cupcake, farfalle e persino una macchina fotografica!!! Da collezionarle tutte! :D

Un progetto facile è quello della spilla, che è perfetta per ravvivare una semplice t-shirt estiva!

 

Ecco come si fa:

L'elenco materiali è in fondo ;)

Tagliare un cuore medio dal feltro, un cuore piccolo dal tessuto prescelto.

Spillare e cucire i due cuori insieme.

Incollare o cucire sul retro una striscia di tessuto e un pezzo di pizzo.

Aggiungere un bottoncino, uno strass e uno spillo decorato.

Se si vuole fare una spilla cucire sul retro un base per spilla. Se si si preferisce fare un portachiavi aggiungere il nastro e l'anello portachiavi in alto e posizionare un secondo cuore sul retro.

Eseguire poi un punto festone intorno al bordo del cuore con un filo di colore in contrasto.

Ecco fatto, la vostra spilla (o portachiavi) è pronta!

A rainbow necklace made with shrink plastic and a Bigz banner dies

A few weeks ago I shared a necklace I made using the Prima Love Gears in this blog. I was one of my favorite projects I have done and today I would like to share another necklace project but this time with a very different look.

I used Sizzix Bigz Pennats die 659739, a Big Shot, shrink plastic either in frosted or clear, Versamagic ink pads in different light colours, a 3/16" whole Punch, jump rings, heat gun, link chain and if possible jewelry tools.

I started by die cutting the banners.  One of the beauties of Bigz dies is that you can cut pretty much anything you can cut with scissors, so two layers of shrink plastic is no problem, so with one go I die cut 12 banners. A part from time saving, die cutting makes sure than all are exactly the same, which is very important when you want a handmade look not a homemade look. I placed them in a row to make sure that the right mix of shapes in the "right" order.

I made a template to place the wholes in all the banners. The holes are about 5mm from top and left/right edges. I used the template to punch out each hole in all banners. I place the ink pads in order so I would know which ones to use in which order.

 I colored each banner separately on a piece of scrap paper. This is important since if ink gets to the other side will show later. Then I placed it on a heat resistant surface and heat it up with a heat gun. If you font have one, you could always use the oven with very low heat, but follow the shrink plastic manufacturers instructions!

I love watching the shrink plastic get all curly and more curly. It looks that it is all going wrong, but you just need persevere to keep the heat on.

Once that it looks pretty even, still is very hot, so if you would like to flatten it use a acrylic block or any heat resistant flat object.

On the left you can see how they look colored and shrinked beside the original size. On the right, you can see all the coloured banners.

One of the things you need to consider with shrink plastic is that the colour intensifies, so some may not look as you thought they would, like the pink and purple. So I redid them with a different ink pad to get the right hue. Once I was completely happy, I started to link them with jump rings.

OK, this step I recommend to do before than I did this. To preserve the color layer it is best to apply some sort of glaze all over the back of the banners. I like to use a clear gloss spray glaze from DecoArt and let them dry completely.

Open each jump ring with the help of two flat nose pliers or similar. Then I thread the banners  through the jump ring: right hole from one - left hole of the next one.

Once I had them all linked, I used a link chain and joined the ends. Finally I added a lobster clap in the middle.

And here it is, a rainbow banner necklace!

I love how colorful it is and how shinny looks.  I hope you do too!

Moulin Rouge Brooch

This week I wanted to show you a textile jewelry item: I created a brooch! This flower is so fun and pretty and so easy to make. I really love making flowers, especially out of felt. It brighten up blazers, plain blouses, aprons and lots of other stuff!
My brooch is inspired to “Moulin Rouge” movie: I used a combination of colors in black and red.

Decide on the colour combinations you’re following. For mine I used: red, black, bordeaux red – but you could use whatever you have.

wool pom pom
a brooch back or safety pin
needle and thread or hot glue
white cardstock

How to make:

1- Use the flowers Dies (656640, 657488, 656522) to cut out your layers of petals. I used 6 layers of petals. Make sure each layer varies in shape, size, material and colour.
2- Assemble: Start with the smallest and work backwards. Sew or use hot glue.
3- Cut out a heart (657694) of felt and glue in the centre. Glue a sequin above.
4- Use the leaves Die (657119) to cut out your layers of leaves. I used 2 layers for each leaf: felt and black lace.
5- Attach the leaves in the back of flower. Glue or sew the yarn pom pom wool.
6- For the back: Cut a felt circle (Die 656333), just big enough to hide all the ugliness. Cut slits in it to slide a part of the safety pin behind it. Then thoroughly hot glue the whole thing down! Voila you have a beautiful brooch!
7- For the card: Use the Die Ornamental (656641) to cut out your tag. Stamp with the stamp Framelits set 657916. Lastly use Embossing Folder. Drill two holes to sticking the brooch.

I love so much create this brooch that I made another, in other colors.



It's a nice gift for someone sweet!

Felice venerdì a tutti!

Questa settimana ho creato una spilla floreale, ispirandomi al film Moulin Rouge. In Italia si avvicina il Carnevale e quel film, con le sue scenografie e i costumi eccessivi, è una fonte d'ispirazione perfetta per questo periodo dell’anno. Il rosso domina su tutto, così come scure e cupe sono le tonalità che prevalgono nella parte più drammatica. E così ho scelto proprio questi colori per realizzare la mia spilla, che ho poi accompagnato ad una semplice card, pronta per essere regalata.

Ma vediamo di spiegarvi come ho fatto.

Per realizzare la spilla avrete bisogno di:

Decidete prima la vostra combinazione di colori. Io ho scelto i colori: rosso, rosso bordeaux e nero.
feltro di due o tre colori
avanzi di stoffa
avanzi di pizzo nero
tulle o voile
paillette
filo di lana pom pom
una spilla piatta o una spilla da balia
ago e filo oppure colla a caldo (secondo le preferenze)
cartoncino bianco (o altro colore in tinta unita)

Procedimento:

1 - Utilizzare le fustelle a forma di fiori (656640, 657488, 656522) per tagliare i vostri strati di petali. Io ho usato 6 strati. Assicurarsi che ogni strato sia diverso per forma, dimensione, materiale e colore. (vedi foto in alto)
2 – Montare il fiore: Iniziare dal fiore più piccolo e lavorare a ritroso. Cucire insieme gli strati o usare la colla a caldo, secondo le vostre preferenze.
3 - Tagliare un cuoricino di feltro usando la fustella 657694 e incollarlo al centro del fiore. Incollare sopra una paillette, scegliendo un colore in tono con la spilla.
4 - Utilizzare la fustella a forma di foglie (657119) per tagliare i vostri strati di foglie. Io ho usato 2 strati per ogni foglia: feltro e pizzo nero, per ognuna.
5 - Fissare le foglie nella parte posteriore del fiore. Cucite o incollate anche il filo di lana pom pom.
6 - Per il retro: tagliare un cerchio di feltro (fustella 656333), grande quanto basta per nascondere tutte le imperfezioni. Praticare due piccole fessure per far scorrere la parte fissa della spilla sul dietro. In questo modo la spilla rimarrà incastrata nel feltro e non si muoverà. Quindi incollare il cerchio con la colla a caldo premendo sul retro del fiore. Voilà, ecco la vostra spilla!
7 - Per la card: utilizzare la fustella Ornamental (656641) per tagliare la tag. Timbrare con i timbri del set Framelits 657916: io ho usato la frase sull'amicizia e i fiori, perfetta! ;) Infine utilizzare l'Embossing Folder per embossare la vostra card. Praticare due fori per attaccare la spilla. Ecco un'idea regalo per le vostre amiche, magari un pensierino inaspettato per il Carnevale!

Mi è piaciuto molto accostare il pizzo con il feltro di colore in contrasto. Questa spilla-fiore è così divertente e così facile da fare... che ne ho realizzata subito un altra con altri colori, più di tendenza!
