A flower in a Box....

This month i received the - oh my Gosh! - the great Big Shot Plus Starter Kit...
And there is so much in to play with at this set - of course the great new and bigger Big Shot
(you are able to use 8 1/2 x 11 materials!!!) - but there are also a lot of great supplies in...

For example the thinlits set with a totally cut box die....
or the Textured Impressions Plus Embossing Folder (Dots)...
or the Bigz L Die (Everyday Essentials)

And out of all this is made a flower gift box.... not only with a flower on - also with
a flower in the box....

I cut out to of the boxes - on for the outside wich i embossed with the
Dots Embossing Folder - and one for the inside.

For the inside i cut of the sides of the lid (and you have to fold it a little more tight).

Before insert i fixed a little piece of wire as the flower stalk...

And i made two 3D-flowers with the Bigz L Die (Everyday Essentials) that also
comes with the Starter Kit.

One i fix at the wire inside the box and one at the lid.

A little decoration (i made the closure our of two brads and a piece of rubber band)...
and the box is ready for giving...

The label is made with Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Layering Frames

Have a great weekend, Stephanie

Materials:
Big Shot Plus Starter Kit

*******

Wedding invitation envelope

Hi everybody! Elena here.

Just after Easter begins the wedding season, so today I want to show you a really beautiful but simple wedding invitation envelope.

 Supply list:

I love the look of white and craft to make wedding projects, so I have combined a simple craft envelope with a beautiful and embossed white flower.

To create this flower you just have to die cut some flower shapes out of white card and then emboss them using the textured impressions embossing folders. This gives the flower a very elegant look. Then bend a little the petals and put the flower together with some foam squares.

Happy Monday!

........

¡Feliz lunes!

Smile card. Crafting with children

Hi everybody! Elena here

Do you like to craft with your children? Winter is a great time to spend some time with them, as the days are cold and rainy and it is not possible to go outside most of the time, so crafting is a very good alternative. They love it! And with the Big Shot, some dies, textured impressions embossing folders and some colored card you can create a lot of different projects that they are going to love.

Today I want to show you and example you can make. it si a little 10x10 card so simple and easy to make. But I'm sure your kids will enjoy very much.

Supply list:

To create this card you only need to make a card base of 10x10 in black card and cut a square of white card of 9x9 cm. Then emboss the white card with the smile textured impressions embossing folder and die cut the word, rainbow and clouds out of different colors of card. Then adhere everything using foam squares, put some glossy accents on top of the clouds and make some dash lines with white gel pen. So easy and so funny!

Happy Monday!
..................................

¡Feliz lunes!

Snowflake Alchemy!

Firstly, Hello to all the gang at Sprinkle Twinkle in Kings Lynn where I was giving a demo day and workshop at the weekend, we had lots of fun looking at some of the new Christmas dies and sharing a few techniques.

At the start of the day, a lovely lady named Tina brought me some Welsh cakes to make me feel at home so 'Diolch yn fawr iawn'. Next time I'm down that way I'm going to take them a few mountains, we've got plenty to spare in North Wales and they could do with a couple dotted about the place. I've never seen so much sky?

One of my demos on the day involved a new set of Thinlits snowflakes from that man Tim Holtz who has hit a winner again with his gorgeous new collection of seasonal dies, click on this link to see what I mean!

I am also using a set of Thinlits Tags which everyone should make some room for in their die-cutting stash. Two other sets which proved very popular on the day and which I couldn't resist using are the Thinlits Holiday words collection and the Thinlits Labels collection. The embossing folder used is from a set of two namely Beaded Garland & Snowflakes. All of the products named are designed by Tim for Sizzix and I will be featuring more in the coming weeks because they are fab!

I use the word alchemy in the title which was. of course, the pseudoscientific vain pursuit of turning base metals into gold. With Sizzix and a few Distress Inks however we can hopefully turn plain ivory and kraft card into crafting gold..... I hope!!!

I die-cut the tag and word 'joy' from stiff ivory card and I die-cut three of the five snowflakes and the rosette label from kraft card. I then embossed or to be more precise, debossed the beaded garland onto the ivory tag before blending some of my favourite Distress Ink colours (Broken China, Shabby Shutters, Dusty Concord and Vintage Photo) over the top.

I used a brayer to apply a thin coat of gesso to the label and snowflakes before strategically inking with the green, blue and purple. I then delicately spritzed the die-cuts with clean water to add a subtle mottling effect. Finally, I applied a little Vintage Photo inks to the edges.
Do you use Distress Glitter.... If not why not? It's super fine and adds a wonderful sparkle to whatever it touches, you can apply as much or as little as you want and it always allows the underlying colour to shine through. I applied a blob of PVA glue to my craft sheet and used my fingertips to apply some to the edges of the die-cut shapes in a random fashion before dipping it into the glitter. Next, I used 3D foam pads to mount the three snowflakes together before decorating with a few adhesive gems.

I applied the glitter to the word 'Joy' which I attached to the label before adding an adhesive pearl in place of the die-cut dot over the letter 'j'. Next, I used a pokey tool to pop a hole through the top of the label and added a couple of jump rings.

I used my Distress Inks to colour some Crinkle Ribbon and attached it around the base of my tag tied into a bow.

And here is the finished tag, I added some paper string through the hole in the top from which I hung my label and mounted the snowflake with some more 3D foam pads. It may not be alchemy, but it's certainly very different from the raw materials with which we started our journey... More from Tim's new collection next week!

Shabby chic flower card

Hi everybody!

Today I want to share with you a Shabby chic card using basic dies and embossing folders.

Sometimes I'm in a romantic mood and I like to craft something Shabby chic. I love to use the Textured Impressions embossing folders in this style, in combination with some distress ink for a little bit of color and softness. In this case I have applied this technique in the card background and also in one of the scallop ovals. Then I have created  a bouquet with some paper flowers and leaves from Tim Holtz's Garden Greens Bigz die. Finally I have attached some pearls and the card is done. Very easy and romantic :)

Happy Monday!

..........................

He puesto unas perlitas y tarjeta terminada. Muy fácil de hacer y muy románitca.

¡Feliz lunes!

Beautiful frame as a card shape

Hello Sizzix fans! It's Karola here with something new from my craftroom! For today's post I would show you an unusual shaped card.
I absolutely LOVE to use an interesting shapes as a forms of my cards, I think it's a great way to try create something out of the box. The main role in my today's card playing a stunning frame, which I cut out using Framelits - Frame, fancy oval die. This shape of card is perfect for any occasion, especially for birthdays and weddings.

And here are my cards, I made a year ago, using the same set of dies - Framelits Die Set 4PK - Frame, Fancy Oval:

Here are some tips on how to create a similar card:

Sizzix supplies used:
658300 Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit (Powder Blue & Teal)
657902 Sizzix Framelits Die Set 4PK - Frame, Fancy Oval
659573 Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die - Spring Greenery
658455 Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Basket Weave & Honeycomb Set

  1. Using Big Shot machine, Framelits Die Set 4PK - Frame, Fancy Oval (large frame) and a white cradstock (250 - 300 gsm), cut out a frame.
  2. After cutting the large filigree frame you have also an oval. Use it to draw an oval shape onto folded card base (square 14 x 14 cm). Remember to leave a 1 - 1,5 cm folded space on your card base and 0,5 cm space around the oval edges. We need the final card base bigger than the orginal oval.
  3. Apply liquid glue on the edges of the oval card base and stick the frame on it.
  4. Again, use the die-cut oval to trace the shape on patterned paper. Cut the oval along the drawn line. It will be our background of the card.
  5. You can emboss patterned oval shape using one of Sizzix Textured Expressions embossing folders. I used the honeycomb motif from Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Basket Weave & Honeycomb Set.
  6. Adhere an embossing oval in the centre of the card base (on the white frame), using 3D foam squares.
  7. It's the time for decorate your card. I using patterned chipboards, the flower and Sizzix dies to cut out beautiful motifs. I cut out the ivy leaves using Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die - Spring Greenery and the butterfly - using the die included to Big Shot Starter Kit (Powder Blue & Teal).

Thank you for visit us today!
Have a wonderful Easter weekend!!

****************************

Witajcie fani Sizzix-a!

Wykorzystane produkty Sizzix:
658300 Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit (Powder Blue & Teal)
657902 Sizzix Framelits Die Set 4PK - Frame, Fancy Oval
659573 Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die - Spring Greenery
658455 Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Basket Weave & Honeycomb Set
  1. Za pomocą maszyny Big Shot, wykrojników z zestawu Framelits Die Set 4PK - Frame, Fancy Oval (duża ramka) oraz białego brystolu (250 - 300 g m/²), wytnij dekoracyjną ramkę.
  2. Po wycięciu ramki, powinien pozostać ci jeszcze owal (środek ramki). Użyj go do odrysowania owalu na złożonej bazie kartki (kwadratowa baza 14 x 14 cm). Podczas wycinania owalu, pamiętaj o dodaniu ok. 0,5 cm zapasu, ponieważ potrzebujemy bazy nieco większej niż oryginalny, wycięty wykrojnikiem owal. Nalezy też zostawić ok. 1 - 1,5 cm miejsca w miejscu złożenia bazy kartki.
  3. Nałóż niewielką ilość kleju na brzegi owalnej bazy kartki a następnie naklej dekoracyjną ramkę.
Będzie to tło naszej kartki.
  5. Możesz dodatkowo wytłoczyć owalne, kolorowe tło za pomocą jednego z folderów do embossingu Sizzix. Ja użyłam folderu z motywem plastra miodu z zestawu: Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Basket Weave & Honeycomb Set.
  7. Pozostało ozdobić kartkę. Ja użyłam zadrukowanych tekturek, kwiatka oraz pieknych papierowych elementów, wyciętych za pomocą wykrojników Sizzix. Listki bluszczu wycięłam korzystając z wykrojnika Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die - Spring Greenery a ażurowego motylka - za pomocą wykrojnika dołączonego do zestawu startowego -  Big Shot Starter Kit (Powder Blue & Teal).

Dziękuję za odwiedziny na blogu Sizzix!
Życzę Wam wspaniałego, wielkanocnego weekendu!

Textured card with a decorative window

Hello everyone!

It's Karola here with next Sizzix inspiration! In my today's post I would like to show you an idea for a lovely and textured background for cards. I love to use all kinds of textured elements in my projects, and using Sizzix dies and embossing folders we can create interesting and unique texture.
As you can see on my card, I created decorative window, it's the main decorative point on this card. In addition, the background paper, in which I cut out window is embossed.

Here's how I created the main accent and unique background for my card:

Sizzix supplies used:

  1. For my decorative background, I prepared a piece of textured Core'dinations cardstock. After cutting the paper for the background, put a small die with a frame motif from Framelits Die Set 4PK - Frame, Fancy Oval on the centre of the paper and then cut out the window.
  2. Then, I embossed this piece of cardstock using trellis motif from Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Rose Vines & Trellis Set.
  3. We can further decorate the background. I decided to highlight the embossed pattern by adding a bit of white gesso on the top.

I stick my background to the card base and in the centre of the window added 3D embellishment. I also added some decorative elements such as ribbon, twine, "celebrate" word and the flowers, with leaves I cut out using Bigz Die - Garden Greens by Tim Holtz.

I hope I was able to inspire you to create interesting cards.

Thank you for visiting our blog! Have a wonderful, creative weekend!

Witajcie!
W dzisiejszym poście chciałabym pokazać Wam pomysł na ciekawe tło do kartki okolicznościowej. Uwielbiam stosować wszelkiego rodzaju elementy z teksturą w moich pracach, a wykorzystując wykrojniki oraz foldery do embossingu Sizzix bez trudu możemy nadać pracom wyjątkowej tekstury i głębi.

  2. Papier z wyciętym okienkiem wytłoczyłam we wzór dekoracyjnej siatki za pomocą folderu do embossingu z zestawu Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Rose Vines & Trellis Set.
