A little bag for a gift

Hi everyone! This week I was planning some gift for family. Here in Spain , people  usually wait for The Three Wise Men on January 6th. They bring presents for everyone !!
This time I wanted something for my sisters in law and I sew a little bag made of  fabric wool with a nice flower made of felt with Stephanie Ackerman dies.

It can used to keep some cosmetics or jewelery.

Supplies:

659958

659960

Felt in six different colors ( pink, yellow, sand , green )
A little scrap of fabric for the heart
Wool fabric 9.5"x8.5"(2)
Linin fabric  9.5"x8.5"(2)
Zipper 9.5"
Fusible web 9.5"x8.5"(2)
Mother of pearl button
cotton thread in green (8) and pink ( for machine )
Cotton  ribbon 5"

I started cutting out the pieces with the Big Shot machine, embroidered the leaves  by hand and some straight stitches   with my Bernina machine around the two flowers. I ironed the fusible web on the wrong side of the wool fabric  and  I  drew some curves on the right and left bottom with a glass and cut out with scissors.

I sew the flowers together  just in the centre. Added the heart and two leaves.

Sew the fabric folded  2" on the borders , back and top as  you can see in the pic.

I sew the zipper  and all  around  the bag for the wrong side , then  cut out the lining as the same way of the bag and finished by hand.

Finally I added a nice ribbon  with a heart made of felt too  and a button on the little heart ..... and
it´s done!! I like this quick bag  even for me..... so maybe I can do someone for my cosmetic goodies.

I wish you a very wonderful New Year  and good times enjoying with Sizzix !!
Love
Mercedes

....................................................................******************...........................................................

3D Mug Gift Holder

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great Christmas...

I wanted to share a project that is quick, easy and can be adapted to any occasion. Fill with candy, gifts or treats.

I used the Make-It-3D die
and Mug & Spoon from the new Vintage Kitchen collection.
  1. Coat a sheet of matboard with spray adhesive and cover with paper. Die cut two mug shapes, a spoon and one insert to make the 3D well. Remember to place the paper side down when cutting.
  2. Bend over on all score lines on the Make-It-3D segment that goes in the middle of the two mugs.
  3. Use hot glue to adhere mug to middle piece to the front, then add the back.
  4. Embellish with rick rack, twine, bell and pine cones.

You can find these dies in your local store or on-line. Please visit my blog to see lots of ideas from my Inspiration Team...

Happy New Year and best wishes for 2015!

Fast Friendship Braids

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I hope you are all enjoying the festivities of the season.  I am sure by the time this goes out, I'll be happily hiding in my studio from the temptations of chocolates and cake!

Just before Christmas I managed to run up a quick cushion for a friend.  Definitely a mornings work well done, even if I do say so myself!

I used the following:

657900 Sizzix Big Shot Machine
658880 Sizzix Bigz 5" Half Hexagon Die

For the cushion I used a total of 60 half hexagons cut from a selection of coordinating fat quarters.

To start off the braid you need to get the shape started as follows:

Using a 1/4" seam allowance stitch that first partial seam

Press, and you are ready to add the next half hex

keep adding

Until you have a friendship braid that is the length you need

The braid is 6 1/2" wide, so I made a set of 3 for my cushion

Square up the ends

in no time at all I had a pretty cushion ready for gifting

I hope you'll have a go at this really quick friendship braid,
wouldn't it make a really cute baby quilt?

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas
and a Happy Creative New Year!
