I love watercolors! and I love my embossing folders! that's why today I want to share with all of you 2 easy ways to create beautiful watercolor effect backgrounds.

Here you have a video to see what I'm saying, I'm sure you'll do a lot of times in a lot of projects!

Me encantan las acuarelas! y me encantan mis carpetas de embossing! es por eso que hoy quiero compartir 2 formas muy fáciles de crear fondos con efecto acuarela muy chulos.

Mas arriba tienes un video para ver a lo que me refiero, estoy seguro que lo vas a hacer un montón de veces en un montón de proyectos!

Watercolor textured backgrounds

Hello, welcome to a new week! It's Anna posting today.

Experimentation is one of the best aspects of paper crafting. There are more techniques to make an Embossed Background using Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Now that Sizzix have created the new Folders Plus, you increase possibilities and techniques, saving time!

Today’s tutorial shows how to combine a Plus embossing folder and inks spray for create “watercolor” textured backgrounds.

Read on to discover this papercraft technique: how to make embossing watercolor cards (one of methods).

 

 

Spray different colours liberally onto your craft sheet (cling film).

Spray several times the water over the ink.

Press the cardstock (A4 sheet) into the ink.

Let a few drops of spray ink.

Make sure to fully dry your cardstock (with a heat tool, if you want).

Using the Textured Impressions Plus Embossing Folder - Botanical Swirls and the Big Shot Plus machine emboss your finished cardstock.

The size of A4 cardstock is enough to cut 4 backgrounds for your cards and all of them are different! All that’s left is for you to use your watercolor backgrounds on your creations!

 

 

For my finished cards I used flower, twig and butterfly that I have cut out from cardstocks and patterned paper to embellish. To create flower and twig I used the dies of new great collection My Kind of Happy by Debi Potter.

The great thing about “watercolor” cards this way is that it will look different every time you do it. You can experiment with different colour combinations to see what sort of looks you can create.

Benvenuti! Sono Anna, con un nuovo tutorial per voi.

 

La sperimentazione è uno degli aspetti più belli del paper crafting, non trovate? Ci sono diverse tecniche per creare uno sfondo “embossato” utilizzando le mascherine Sizzix. Ed ora che Sizzix ha messo in commercio le nuove mascherine da embossing per la Big Shot Plus, le possibilità e le tecniche aumentano, soprattutto per farci risparmiare tempo!

Il tutorial di oggi mostra come usare una Textured Impressions Plus Embossing Folder e i colori spray per creare sfondi con effetto acquerello con disegni in rilievo.

Con un solo sfondo in formato A4, io sono riuscita a creare ben quattro card! Due ve le mostro nelle foto in alto.

 

Continuate a leggere per scoprire la tecnica usata: ovvero come fare card con effetto acquerello e disegni in rilievo (questo è solo uno dei vari metodi).

 

Spruzzare diversi colori sulla pellicola trasparente.

Spruzzare quindi due o tre volte l'acqua sopra.

Premere bene il cartoncino (foglio A4) sopra i colori spruzzati.

Capovolgere il foglio e se volete, potete lasciar cadere qualche goccia di colore qua e là.

Fate asciugare completamente il cartoncino (se volete, potete accelerare i tempi con phon ecc).

Utilizzando il Textured Impressions Plus Embossing Folder - Botanical Swirls e la macchina Big Shot Plus imprimete il disegno sul cartoncino già decorato.

La dimensione del cartoncino A4 è sufficiente per tagliare ben 4 sfondi per le vostre card, tutti diversi! Non vi resta che utilizzare gli sfondi per le vostre creazioni!

 

Per le mie card ho usato per abbelire fiore, ramoscello e farfalla che ho fustellato da cartoncini e carta fantasia. Per creare fiori e ramoscello ho usato le nuove favolose fustelle della collezione My Kind of Happy by Debi Potter.

 

La cosa bella di queste card effetto acquerello è che, anche se realizzate simili, quasi “in serie” avranno un aspetto diverso ogni volta, grazie al particolare sfondo, che non sarà mai uguale! Si possono fare prove con diverse combinazioni di colori e abbinamenti cromatici con i cartoncini sui quali far aderire lo sfondo lavorato, per vedere quante possibilità creative ci sono.

Layout with lace background



Hello everyone! It's Karola again with a new layout inspiration. 

For today, I prepared a soft, girly layout, very easy to recreate, mostly because of using fantastic Sizzix dies to make bold and lacey background. I really love everything doily and lacey, as I mentioned before, so i always try to put some doilies in my projects. This time I used Bigz Die - Doily, Classical Lace and Thinlits Die Set 2PK - Damask & Scallop Borders to create an interesting background arrangement in my page. These large and lacey motifs are incredibly beautiful and very versatile. 

Here are a few easy steps you can follow to recreate similiar background or even a whole page:

1. Prepare a layout base. I used yellow scrapbooking paper and a white textured cardstock on it. The edges of white cardstock was cut using "around the page" decorative punches. I used also mask with "chicken wire" motif on the top and the bottom of my page.
2. Cut out 2 pieces of damask border and 2 piece of doily in two different colors of scrapbooking paper. Arrange damask borders in the centre of the page, leaving some space between and adhere the doilies by hiding a part of it under the damask borders, as shown on the photos below.
3. Cut out oval frame using white cardstock and Framelits Die Set 4PK - Frame, Fancy Oval. Prepare your photo (7 x 8 cm) and adhere it, hiding the left photo edge under the left side of the oval frame, as you can see on the photo. Of course you can use also the oval shape photo. 
4. Then you can decorate your layout by creating some layers, adding title, embellies and maybe some mediums (I used yellow 3D paint to make a few decorative drops).

Well, I bet you will agree with me that this easy way makes the layout sweet, girly and super easy to create. Using Sizzix dies, you do not have lots of embellies, because you can always cut the motifs from the patterned paper you need in the color and material you want!

Witajcie! Dziś przynoszę ze sobą na blog Sizzix-a kolejną layout-ową inspirację. Do dzisiejszego posta przygotowałam delikatny, dziewczęcy scrap, bardzo łatwy do odtworzenia, głównie dzięki wykorzystaniu fantastycznych wykrojników Sizzix, dzięki którym zrobiłam bogate, koronkowe tło mojego scrapa.

Nie jest tajemnicą, że uwielbiam wszelkie wzory ażurowe, serwetki i koronki, zatem zwykle staram się opierać moje projekty na tego typu motywach i dodawać je wszędzie tam, gdzie to możliwe. Tym razem wykorzystałam wykrojniki: Bigz Die - Doily, Classical Lace oraz Thinlits Die Set 2PK - Damask & Scallop Borders aby stworzyć moją aranżację tła. Uważam, że te dwa sporej wielkości motywy są nieprawdopodobnie piękne oraz bardzo uniwersalne.

Poniżej znajdziecie kilka wskazówek, dzięki którym z łatwością stworzycie podobne tło a może i cały layout:

1. Najpierw należy przygotować bazę scrapa. Ja użyłam żółtego papieru do scrapbookingu oraz białego brystolu, który nakleiłam na żółte tło. Brzegi białego brystolu wycięłam ozdobnie za pomocą dziurkaczy multifunkcyjnych. Dodatkowo użyłam maski ze wzorem siatki oraz zielonego tuszu do stworzenia wzorów u góry i na dole mojego tła. 
2. Następnie należy wyciąć 2 razy koronkowy border oraz 2 serwetki, najlepiej z dwóch różnych kolorystycznie papierów do scrapbookingu. Teraz trzeba przykleić wycięte motywy na środku tła, w taki sposób, aby serwetki zachodziły nieco pod koronkowe bordery - najlepiej zerknąć na zdjęcie powyżej aby zobaczyć jak ja zaaranżowałam wykrojnikowe motywy. 
3. Teraz czas na ramkę do zdjęcia. Wystarczy wyciąć owalną, ozdobną ramę, wykorzystując wykrojnik z zestawu Framelits Die Set 4PK - Frame, Fancy Oval oraz biały brystol (papier wizytówkowy). Następnie trzeba przygotować zdjęcie o wymiarach zbliżonych do 7 x 8 cm. Zdjęcie przyklejamy do scrapa w taki sposób, aby jego lewy brzeg wchodził pod lewą stronę wnętrza ramki. Dość dobrze widać to na zdjęciach powyżej. Oczywiście można użyć zdjęcia w kształcie owala. 
4. Pozostaje ozdobić layout, tworząc trochę warstw, dodając tytuł, ozdoby i może odrobinę (lub więcej) mediów (ja zrobiłam kilka kropek za pomocą żółtej farby 3D). 

Cóż, jestem pewna, że zgodzicie się ze mną, że ten prosty sposób pozwala na stworzenie słodkiego, dziewczęcego scrapa z z dużą łatwością. Wykorzystując wykrojniki Sizzix nie musicie korzystać z mnóstwa gotowych dodatków, ponieważ zawsze możecie wyciąć sobie ulubione motywy w kolorze i z materiału jaki chcecie.

Lace background & other girly accents



Hello! 

My name is Karola Witczak - scrapbooker and cardmaker from Poland. I live in Gorzow Wlkp. city, near to Germany border with my hubby Martin, our sweet, 9 y.o daughter Rose and our furry friends. All I can say shortly about myself is: totally addicted papercrafter, who love to try new techniques, products, colors and patterns, however, always staying true to my "modern shabby chic" style.

I am thrilled being a part of Sizzix UK Creative Bloggers team and today, with a huge pleasure, I wanted to share with you my first project.

For today's post I created a layout with my daughter's photos. Usually on most of my layouts, you may notice portrait photos of her. I really love creating such a pages to highlight her beauty and personality. This time I decided to make a lace background and using ornate frame die to create special photo matting and additional decoration on my page. Flowers are my one of the favorite elements, so it's obvious I need beautiful leaves for them, right? A piece of vintage lace and beautiful antique letters complete this layout and makes the page 100% girly.

If you love openwork motifs on your projects like me, use Framework dies to make the whole bakcground lacy. Thanks to repeatable pattern, you can combine several parts into one complete fantastic background - it's very easy! On my page, you may notice such a repeatable border, created using Trellis Framework die - on the top and the bottom of the layout. For a part of my title I used absolutely amazing Brenda Walton's Antiqua Capital Letters dies - they are beautiful and sufficiently large to create titles on 12 x 12 layouts. I used Core'dinations cardstock to cut out "YOU" word and used sandpaper to add more shabby look to my title. My idea to make the page more lacy is adding more lacy elements - I know, obvious :) But please take a look at this peach lace border I added on Framework pattern at the top and the bottom. Just a small piece, but makes the page even more feminine and interesting. I cut out the border using Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die - Vintage Lace.

I love everything filigree and lacy, so Frame, Oval w/Ornate Edges Framelits die turned out the perfect shape for matting photos on my today's page. I cut out it twice from a peach Core'dinations cardstock and then I cut one of them in a half. I used these two parts of the ornate frame motif to decorate the left part of the page, near first part of the title (Pretty). This is my favorite tip how to multiply embellies :) Just cut in a few parts any die cut element and this way you may have lots of additional embellies in a very easy, quick and cheap way. The second ornate frame I used as a matt under main, oval photo.

Talking about flowers, you can not forget about the beautiful leaves. My favorite leaf shape are recently those which are cutted using Tim Holtz Garden Greens Bigz die. Usually I cut the whole branch ina few parts, as you can see on my page. This time I cut out the leaves only 2 times making a whole lot tiny flowers to add here and there, under the flowers. My tiny tip for make the leaves more dimensional is very easy: just curl each leaf and apply a drops of glue only on a flat leaves parts, then adhere it to the background.

Uwielbiam tworzyć tego typu layouty, oddając hołd jej urodzie i osobowości. Tym razem postanowiłam stworzyć layout z ażurowym tłem, ozdobnymi ramkami i kilkoma dodatkowymi koronkowymi elementami. Ponieważ uwielbiam kwiaty, potrzebuję do nich pięknych liści, takie właśnie znalazły się dziś na mojej pracy.

Jeśli lubicie ażurowe elementy w swoich pracach, jak ja - użyjcie któregoś z wykrojników z serii Framework, aby stworzyć w projektach koronkowe tło. Ponieważ wzory w tej serii są powtarzalne, wycięte motywy z łatwością dają się łączyć, w jedno kompletne tło. Na moim scrapie stworzyłam bordery wykorzystując wykrojnik Trellis Framework na górze i na dole strony. Do stworzenia części tytułu użyłam 

przepięknych liter z zestawu wykrojników z alfabetem Antiqua Capital Letters. Wycięłam je z brystolu z teksturą Core'dinations, a na koniec dodałam przecierki wykonane za pomocą papieru ściernego. Ten zestaw alfabetowy jest doskonały do tworzenia tytułów na scrapach 30 x 30 cm - literki są odpowiednio duże i wyraziste, a jednocześnie filigranowe i eleganckie. Kolejnym koronkowym, kobiecym elementem jaki dodałam do mojego scrapa jest cieniutki ażurowy border wycięty wykrojnikiem Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die - Vintage Lace. Kiedy chcemy dodać lekkości i koronek do pracy... dodajmy po prostu więcej koronek - to oczywiste! Dzięki wykrojnikom, możemy w 5 minut stworzyć piękną koronkę w kolorze jaki potrzebujemy.

Ponieważ uwielbiam wszystko, co jest ażurowe, zawijasowe, koronkowe, postanowiłam użyć wykrojnika Framelits - Frame, Oval w/Ornate Edges, aby stworzyć dwie bliźniacze ramki do mojej pracy. Jedną z nich zastosowałam zwyczajnie - jako ramkę do zdjęcia, natomiast drugą przecięłam na pół i ozdobiłam tymi dwoma kawałkami ramki moją lewą stronę scraoa, nieopodal pierwszej części tytułu (Pretty). To mój ulubiony trik, pozwalający w magiczny sposób rozmnażać dodatki, dzieląc je na mniejsze części. To bardzo łatwy, szybki i tani sposób na to, aby mieć więcej podobnych elementów na pracy. 

Wspominałam wcześniej o kwiatkach - wydaje mi się, że nie potrafię się bez nich obejść. Apropos kwiatków, nie możemy zapominać o pięknych listkach. Mój ulubiony kształt liści w ostatnim czasie to te wycięte z wykrojnika Bigz Die - Garden Greens by Tim Holtz. Zwykle mając taką rozbudowaną gałązkę, rozcinam ją na kilka części, uzyskując mnóstwo małych listków, które wklejam tu i tam, pod kwiatki na mojej pracy. Mój mały trik nadający listkom objętości i trójwymiarowości, polega na tym, aby każdy z listków wywinąć do góry i aplikować klej od spodu wyłącznie na płaskich częściach listka. Po naklejeniu, listki będą pięknie odstawać od podłoża.
