DIY Felt Cell Phone case

Hello, Everyone! It's Anna posting today.

Did you know that die-cutting felt with Bigz dies is easy and fast?! This week, I decided to make my new felt phone case, decorated with an amazing  flower shape.

 

It's so much fun to make! And here is the finish product:

 

 

Using wool felt, I can protect my screen from scratches.

 

 

Read on for tutorial…

 

 

Firstly cut two rectangles of felt to the size of your cell phone. Since they are all different, cut the pieces in the size of your phone + 1 cm all around.

Cut a strip of fabric and sew (using the zig zag stitch) in the high edges of the case.

Using the Bigz die Garden Flower cut out flowers, twig and circle from thin felt. Sew the elements on front case. I used the sewing machine, but you can sew by hand or use glue.

Finally, place the two pieces of felt casing, wrong sides together and sew around the edge leaving one end open to let you slip your phone out.

 

 

You can do this using colour combination of your choice. It’s also a perfect handmade gift for Christmas.

Ciao, benvenuti ad una nuova ispirazione! Sono Anna ed oggi ho un nuovo progetto con il feltro da condividere con voi.

Sapete vero che fustellare il feltro con le fustelle Bigz è facile e veloce?! Questa settimana, infatti, ho deciso di realizzare il mio nuovo porta cellulare ed ho pensato, che il feltro fosse il materiale più adatto. Grazie alla Big Shot ho potuto decorarlo, proprio come piace a me.

 

E' piuttosto semplice e veloce da fare. Ecco i passaggi per la realizzazione:

In primo luogo tagliare due rettangoli di feltro delle dimensioni del vostro telefono cellulare. Dal momento che i modelli sono tutti diversi, tagliare i pezzi nella dimensione del telefono + 1 cm tutto intorno.

Tagliare una striscia di stoffa fantasia e cucirla sul bordo superiore di entrambi i pezzi.

Utilizzando la Big Shot e la fustella Bigz Garden Flower tagliare i due fiori, il ramoscello e il cerchio. Cucire gli elementi sul rettangolo da usare come fronte: cucire il gambo e le venature delle foglie ecc. Io ho preferito usare la macchina da cucire, ma voi potete anche cucire a mano oppure incollare.

Infine, possiamo assemblare il porta cellulare: posizionare i due rettangoli, rovescio contro rovescio e cucire intorno al bordo lasciando un'estremità aperta per il telefono.

 

Naturalmente, potete usare una combinazione di colori a vostra scelta. Può diventare anche un regalo handmade perfetto per il prossimo Natale.

Con lo stesso metodo si può realizzare anche una borsetta o un astuccio.

Hello Sizzix Friends!
Last week I bought a present for my sister and I decided to wrap it up with a pretty package.
I realized a fabric flower perfect to be removed and reused.
She liked it so much and I decided to share it with you.


You will need only one die! ;)

 

You need:

Sizzix Bigz Die - Flower Layers & Leaves (657690)

Tissue paper

Sticky Tape

Double-sided sticky tape

Fabric scraps

Cardstock

Scissors

Needle and Thread

Scissors

 

Wrap the present up with tissue paper and some pieces of sticky tape.

Die cut some flowers using Sizzix Bigz Die - Flower Layers & Leaves (657690), fabric scraps and the Big Shot Plus Machine.

Arrange the flower mixing the different fabrics.

Fix the petals with needle and thread (in the same colour of the fabric).

 

 

Add two pieces of double-sided sticky tape on the package and paste a cotton ribbon on them.

Make a bow and cut the excess of ribbon with the scissors.

Put the fabric flower on the package with a piece of double-sided sticky tape. (you easily will be able to remove it and reuse it).

Die cut some leaves using Sizzix Bigz Die - Flower Layers & Leaves (657690) and a cardstock.

Fix the leaves on the package with double-sided sticky tape.

That's it!

Easy and super pretty!

Confezionate il regalo con la carta velina fissandola con lo scotch.

Fustellate diversi fiori usando Sizzix Bigz Die - Flower Layers & Leaves (657690), dei ritagli di stoffa e la Macchina Big Shot Plus.

Componete il fiore mixando le diverse stoffe.

Fissate i petali del fiore con ago e filo (scegliete un filo coordinato cromaticamente).

Aggiungete due pezzi di nastro biadesivo sul pacchetto e fissate un nastro in cotone.

Fate un bel fiocco e tagliate l'eccesso di nastro.

Posizionate il fiore di stoffa sul pacchetto con un pezzo di nastro biadesivo (in questo modo potrete facilmente rimuoverlo e riutilizzarlo).

Fustellate alcune foglie con Sizzix Bigz Die - Flower Layers & Leaves (657690) e un cartoncino sui toni del verde.

Fissate le foglie sul pacchetto con il biadesivo.

Ed ecco fatto!

Felt Ice Cream Keychain and Brooch

Hello there! I’m Anna from Café Creativo and I am so excited to share this project with you today!

This week I am bringing you a project that will help use the fabric and felt scraps ;)

I made these jewels textiles. I thought it would be lovely to share a tutorial to make a small last minute gift for this summer.

 

 

I die-cut the bits and pieces using the new seasonal dies from Echo Park collection.

I chose ice cream to make a Keychain and some hearts to make a Brooch.

 

 

 

Make a textile brooch using leftover fabric and felt, it’s so perfect for a summer t-shirt!

 

Here’s how you do it:

Cut out one medium heart from felt, one small heart from your fabric.

Pin and sew the two hearts together.

Glue or sew on the back a strip of fabric and a piece of lace.

Add a button, a rhinestone and a decorated pin.

If you want to make a brooch sew a brooch bar onto the back. If you are making a keychain add the ribbon loop and keyring at the top and add a second heart on the back.

Blanket stitch around the edge of the heart with a contrasting thread colour.

Your brooch or keychain is finished!

Ciao, sono Anna di Café Creativo e sono felice di condividere anche oggi un nuovo progetto!

Questa settimana vi mostro un progetto che contribuirà all'utilizzo degli avanzi di stoffa e feltro, che si accumulano sempre.

Ho realizzato, infatti, dei bijoux tessili, molto simpatici ed adatti all'estate, che si possono realizzare con pochi materiali, anche in vacanza ;) Ho pensato, quindi, che sarebbe stato carino condividere un piccolo tutorial...

Ho tagliato i vari pezzi utilizzando le nuove fustelle della collezione Echo Park. Tra tutte le bellissime forme delle fustelle Bigz, oggi ho scelto il gelato per fare un portachiavi - grigri e i cuoricini per fare una spilla. Ma ci sono anche deliziose cupcake, farfalle e persino una macchina fotografica!!! Da collezionarle tutte! :D

Un progetto facile è quello della spilla, che è perfetta per ravvivare una semplice t-shirt estiva!

 

Ecco come si fa:

L'elenco materiali è in fondo ;)

Tagliare un cuore medio dal feltro, un cuore piccolo dal tessuto prescelto.

Spillare e cucire i due cuori insieme.

Incollare o cucire sul retro una striscia di tessuto e un pezzo di pizzo.

Aggiungere un bottoncino, uno strass e uno spillo decorato.

Se si vuole fare una spilla cucire sul retro un base per spilla. Se si si preferisce fare un portachiavi aggiungere il nastro e l'anello portachiavi in alto e posizionare un secondo cuore sul retro.

Eseguire poi un punto festone intorno al bordo del cuore con un filo di colore in contrasto.

Ecco fatto, la vostra spilla (o portachiavi) è pronta!

Father's day - super hero, superstar

As promised another blog for Father's day - and it's quick as well, glasses case and a phone cover -

 

All you need is a tie or too - now I raided my husbands ties - but I did ask - take a hint that if you use his best tie he isn't really going to like what you've made with it.

If you love him dearly but he embarrasses you so much - then make sure that the tie you choose, from his wardrobe, charity shop or store, is really outlandish and choose crazy colours for the lettering!

One word - the tie does need to be quite wide because we are going it make a glasses case, or a phone cover.

You will also need a small amount of fusible web (Heat and Bond, Bondaweb or similar) and a similar small amount of fabric for the letters.
Fuse the web to the wrong side of the fabric for the lettering and cut out the letters that you need - for the first glasses case I'm using  1 each of s u p h o, and 2 each of e and r.

For the glasses case - I measured the glasses 15cm and added a couple of cm for ease and then doubled it - so I cut the tie to 40cm long. 

As I am going to stitch letters onto the right side I undid the stitching on the back of the tie, and opened it out flat. (Now I forgot to take a photo with the tie open so we are looking at my next tie)

Arrange the letters within the length you need for the glasses and then fuse them in place and stitch them -



The back of the tie is re-stitched and the narrow hem is turned in and stitched -

Next fold the tie so that the 'case' is the right length, and pin the layers together -

 and stitch the layers together.

Add a button and a ribbon loop to complete the case -

this one is because everyone knows that if you take off, or put on your glasses you can become a superhero!!
Which then led me to think of a super star -

and then I thought of a cover for a phone  - the tie needs to be cut to about 30cm for this and because it is smaller the word had to be shorter - so -

Personalized Canvas Tote Bag with Big Shot Plus

In my opinion, one can never have too many purses and bags. And I think most women are this way ;) A tote or stylish reusable grocery bag is a great gift for a female of any age. I'm sharing an idea pretty simple to give a personal touch to the canvas bag...

- Using the Big Shot Plus Starter Kit and the Bigz die, die-cut two branches with leaves from felt.

- Cut a piece of floral fabric slightly smaller of bag and zigzag-stitch border - this prevents the fabric from fraying.

- Layer and sew the branches. Sew together above the front bag.

 

This is my second bag, that I customized with a handmade felt brooch.

 

I created the brooch with some flowers die-cut with Big Shot Plus Starter Kit and the Bigz die.

Ciao a tutti! Eccomi pronta a condividere il mio progetto Sizzix di oggi!

Secondo me, le borse non sono mai troppe! E credo che la pensi così la maggior parte di voi ;) Per questo motivo una borsa o una shopping bag riutilizzabile è un bel regalo per “ragazze” di qualsiasi età.

Eccovi quindi un paio d'idee piuttosto semplici per dare un tocco personale ad una semplice shopper.

Nelle foto in alto, osservate la prima borsa, che ho abbellito con un po' di stoffa ed un'applicazione di foglie di feltro. In fondo trovate le spiegazioni passo-passo.

Come vedete dalle foto ho abbellito anche una seconda shopper: per questa mi è bastato personalizzarla con una spilla di feltro. Ho creato la spilla con alcuni fiori tagliati con il nuovo Big Shot Plus Starter Kit e la fustella Bigz inclusa.

E' facile quindi creare un simpatico accessorio alla moda, un regalo per amiche, mamme, zie, figlie...

- Utilizzando il Big Shot Plus Starter Kit con la fustella Bigz inclusa, ritagliare due ramoscelli dal feltro.

- Tagliare un pezzo di tessuto floreale leggermente più piccolo della borsa e cucire il bordo a zigzag per impedire al tessuto di sfilacciare.

- Sovrapporre e cucire i rami nell'angolo in basso. Cucire quindi tutto il pezzo sopra il fronte della borsa.

Bags of fun!

Today is a complete change of direction from last week, I wanted to do something 'off the page' as they say. 

I love using recycled materials wherever possible and I can often be found haunting the local charity shops for things to die-cut or decorate. 

I have been working with fabrics recently, and I'm forever picking the brains of Angela, our in-house textile guru asking increasingly ridiculous questions about various fabrics and their properties thinking that one day I can put all this knowledge to some good use (don't hold your breath!)

I am using another of those stunning Sizzix Bigz flower dies. I love the contemporary feel of the shapes and the leaf is just gorgeous as you will see. The die in question is called Flower Layers & Leaf #2 by the clever people at Doodlebug Design.

I raided the local charity shops and left with a grey clutch bag, two pairs of jeans and some lace fabric (I get the funniest looks!!). I cut away the seams in the legs of the jeans and layered two strips of denim back to back, I put a sheet of Bondaweb in between the strips and applied a hot iron. Having that double thickness will give my flowers more spring or body, and another advantage of using the heat fusible web stops the fabric from fraying when die-cut. 

I die-cut four large denim flowers and four lace flowers before laying a lace flower over each denim flower.

I folded the flowers in half and half again before securing with a a few stitches where the flowers come to a point. I recommend a good strong thread for fabric of this thickness. I repeated the process with the other three sets of flowers and placed them point to point. At this stage you can stitch them onto a circle of fabric to keep them together ready to mount onto your project. 

I die-cut one of the smaller flowers from a single layer of darker denim backed with bondaweb to stop any fraying. Next, i used a needle and thread to add a few stitches down the centre of each individual petal to give the flower some added dimension before dipping into my bling box which is a treasure trove of recovered costume jewellery including bracelets, necklaces and earrings etc. I came up with a rather lovely diamante gem which, if memory serves, came from a hair band! I added the gem to the centre of the flower before mounting this into the centre of our assembled denim/lace flower. I die-cut the leaf from the same dark denim before attaching both to the rear of the flower.

I attached the flower by stitching through the bag, any unsightly stitching can be covered with a button if preferred. Not bad for recycled materials? You can use this flower as a broach or to decorate a hat too if preferred.

Here is a card made using the same die to show the oval centre and retro star shape which are part of the design. I love the versatility of these shapes and this is another in a long list of dies that I could not be without.

Hello! It's Anna here. How are you doing on this pretty Friday morning?

Today I made this simple personalised door sign, perfect for a child's bedroom, for any princess in your life!
It's a very satisfying, relatively simple project and super charming...
 

 

 

Let me show you how it’s done!

 

 

I started with a sheet of cardboard and a piece of fabric.

I die cut the names of my nieces from Alphanumeric Thinlits Set.

Extra dimension was added with various felt hearts die-cut with Bigz Die Heartfelt by Tim Holtz.

If you want add stitches.

 

 

I used a mix of pale colours including lilac, pink, aqua, but it can be personalised with a special name and colour scheme.

A perfect gift for all occasions, ideal for a new baby, that can be hung from a bedroom door or perhaps above a bed.

An idea for your craft room door, also ;)

Ciao, sono Anna. Cosa state facendo di bello in questo venerdì? Vi state preparando per un week end creativo? Bè, spero di darvi alcune ispirazioni...

Oggi ho usato alcune nuove fustelle tra cui Alphanumeric Thinlits Set. E' un nuovo set di fustelle sottili, progettato da Tim Holtz, che ha il pregio di poter scrivere sia in “positivo” che in “negativo”, in quanto si possono posizionare le singole lettere sul cartoncino. Ovvero ci sono più pezzi di una stessa lettera, per cui è possibile scrivere una frase breve, senza problemi.

Ho pensato quindi di giocare con questo alfabeto per creare due progetti differenti.

Nelle foto in alto, vi mostro dunque la targa, che ho realizzato per la nuova camera delle mie nipoti. Devo dire che questo è un progetto relativamente semplice, ma che regala grande soddisfazione! Lasciate che vi mostri come si fa...

Ho iniziato con un rettangolo di cartone di recupero (non butto via niente!!!) ed un pezzo di tessuto a pois un po' più grande.

Come vi dicevo, ho tagliato i nomi con Alphanumeric Thinlits Set. Ho fissato le lettere con la colla ed ho aggiunto delle cuciture per impreziosire.

Allo stesso modo ho cucito una fila di cuori in feltro differenti, fustellati con la Bigz Heartfelt, sempre di Tim Holtz. Adoro questa fustella!!! Ho già in mente altre idee da fare con lei :)

Ho usato un mix di colori tenui, tra cui lilla, rosa, verde acqua, ma ovviamente, se vi piace l'idea, potete personalizzare a piacere con una diversa combinazione di colori.

Penso possa essere un regalo adatto a molte occasioni, come la nascita di un bebé... ma anche un regalo per se stesse, creando finalmente la targa della propria craft room ;)

Il secondo progetto, è nato nel tentativo di utilizzare i nomi fustellati in "negativo", così ho creato due simpatici segnalibri. Come vedete, con questo favoloso alfabeto, è piuttosto facile realizzare un segnalibro personalizzato. Io li ho poi abbelliti con cuori in feltro, ritagliati sempre con la Heartfelt, e altri piccoli dettagli fustellati con altre Thinlits.

Bene, tutta questa produttività mi ha reso piuttosto stanca, penso sia ora di un buon caffè! :D Come mi piacerebbe prenderlo insieme a voi!
