Juleaften / Christmas Eve

 

 

Today is the day: In Denmark we celebrate Christmas today not on the 25th which means that almost every Danish family is busy preparing Christmas dinner, decorating the tree and watching Disney's Christmas cartoons today. I wanted to wish all of you a very merry Christmas with a simple Christmas card.

 

I went with a blue, white and kraft colour scheme to enhance my wintery Christmas greeting. I picked colours for my snowflakes and other embellishments from the patterned paper I chose.



The snowflakes are created using dies from Thinlits Die Set 4PK - Christmas Trims, Triplits Die Set 9PK - Ornaments and Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Winter Borders & Rosette. It is always fun to be able to mix and match dies like that.

Så er det juleaften, og det betyder jo, at nærmest alle danske familier er i gang med de sidste juleforberedelser: Der pyntes træer, steges and og flæskesteg og Disneys juleshow bliver set. I den anledning lavede jeg et hurtigt, enkelt julekort med mine ønsker for højtiden.

Jeg valgte et blåt, hvidt og kraft farvetema til at understøtte min vinterlige julehilsen. Snefnuggene og andre dekorationers farver er udtrukket fra det mønstrede papir, jeg brugte.

Fnuggene er lavet med dies fra Thinlits Die Set 4PK - Christmas Trims, Triplits Die Set 9PK - Ornaments og Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Winter Borders & Rosette. Det er altid sjovt at kunne mixe og matche dies fra forskellige sæt.

Bentes Christmas tree decorations for week 3.

 

 

 Hi, I am back this Sunday to share some decorations I made for my tree using the beautiful free download papers and a few of my favourite dies.

De dies I used were the scalloped circle , the oval and  and the snowflake from the Winter borders & rosette set.

 I added pop dots between the layers to add some more interest to my ornaments.

I hope you like my ornaments and will try making them. It's a nice thing to do in family with in the kids as they are pretty straight forward to make and the design can be varied to make different styles.

Christmas tree decorations! Christmas Challenge week 3!

It's week three of the Sizzix Christmas Challenge 2014! And it is Tree Decorations! So I decided to do a large bubble with a decorated inside.

For this third Christmas Challenged I used:

And I used the free downloadable papers from Sizzix, click here for the link.

I started by die cutting the rosette from the Winter Borders & Rosette set. I die cut two strips and covered the back with washi tape to make sure that the perforating lines don't brake. (They usually don't, but if you live in a very dry place or have the heating up as I do, the fibers are more brittle and tend to break much easily than they should.)
I cut the strips to be five pointers each amd making sure that one of the ends ended in a W and the other on a M. Then I linked those to create a lampshade sort of shape.

I die cut two circles using the medium circle die included in the set. I placed a bop of  hot glue in the center of one and pressed down on the rosette. then I used another circle to secure it in place.

I used a double sided adhesive sheet from Stix2 on white paper and die cut it using the larger circle die from the Winter Borders & Rosette set. I removed the backing of and placed the white paper die cut snowflake (also from the Winter Borders & Rosette). Then I dumped in my gold flake tub and rub any excess off - To see more of this technique click here.

I finished it off layering it with circles die cut from the Circles #2 set. On the opposite side I die cut the word peace from the Christmas Phrase Cards and snowflakes. Then I placed it on a plastic bubble and pour chunky matte glitter. Finally I added a die cut bow, embellishments from the Hobby House and a ribbon loop.

And there it is...

Bente's Week 2 post 'Gift wrap & Tags'.

 

Hi and welcome to my week 2 post using the gorgeous free papers that you can download from the Sizzix web page. There is a link at the end of my post :-)

This week here at Sizzix UK we are focusing on gift wrapping and making cute tags for the recipients. I have been busy doing some of that too, and here is the result:

I used some of my fave dies at the moment for my giftwrap and tags.
The 'Circles, scallop' finds it's way to most of my projects.And when I am thinking of a seasonal project the 'Winter Borders and Rosette' by the talented Paula Pascual is one of the first sets I look for.

As I said I used the free downloadable papers here and the snowflake on blue is one of the neat little labels on them. I love how it turned out after I used the scallopped circle to cut it out.

I used the snowflake-patterned strips as they are and added a single little white snowflake as well. For a different texture I also used a silvery chipboard snowflake. It is so much fun to use corrugated cardboard for giftwrapping as it will almost always turn out looking rustic and decorative. It is also such a great way to recycle something you would otherwise throw away. :-)

Hej och välkomna till vecka 2 av hur vi kan använda de fina papprena som du kan ladda ner helt gratis från Sizzix hemsida. En länk finns i produktlistan på slutet.

Denna veckan har vi fokuserat på att göra fina inslagningar och tags. Det har jg också gjort och här är resultatet:

Jag använde några av mina favorit dies för ögonblicket. 'Circles scallop' kommer med på de flesta av mina projekt just nu, och ska jag göra något vinter/jul relaterat så är en av de första jag använder  'Winter Borders and Rosette' av den duktiga Paula Pascual.

Som jag sa så använde jag gratis papprena för mina paket och den lilla snöflingan med blå bakgrund är ett av de söta motiven att klippa ut.


Jag använde de tryckte stripen med snöflingor som de är och la till en extra liten snöflinga i vitt. För att få lite extra textur använde jag en färdig silvrig chipboard snöflinga. Jag tycker det är jättekul att använd wellpapp för att slå in paket. Det ser så härligt rustikt ut och det är dessutom ett bra sätt att återanvända något som kanske annars skulle hamnat i soptunnan. ;-)

Noel candy cane

 

 

Back to Christmas card again this week and I've gone with one of my favourite colour combinations for Christmas: Kraft, white, red and gold. Love the way those colours come together and instantly remind me of Christmas. This week's card features the new Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Christmas Phrase Cards as well as the new Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Winter Borders & Rosette.

 

 

I kept the card relatively simple and let the card feature a rather large slice of white space.

 

 

On the left most side of the white cardstock, I diecut one of the borders from Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Winter Borders & Rosette. Then I used the same border to cut red cardstock to fill in the empty spaces in the white cardstock and thereby achieving the candy cane look. The second border, also from Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Winter Borders & Rosette, was diecut in a gold paper. I made sure to reserve the stars from the border to use as a detail near the sentiment.

 

 

To create the sentiment for the card I diecut four (and ended up only using three) "noels" using one of the dies from Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Christmas Phrase Cards. Glueing the three diecuts on top of one another will give your diecut dimension as well as stability.

 

Once I had mounted three "noels" on top of one another I added the sentiment to my card. I then strung the baker's twine around the card and tied a bow just above the sentiment. To make sure that the ends of the bow remained arranged in a nice way, I put a little glue under each end. The final touch was to add three of the little gold stars above the sentiment.

Jeg er tilbage til julekortene i denne uge, og jeg har arbejdet med en af mine favorit farvekombinationer til julekort: kraft, hvid, rød og guld. Jeg elsker den måde, de farver arbejder sammen og umiddelbart minder en om jul. Denne uges kort er lavet med dies fra Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Christmas Phrase Cards og Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Winter Borders & Rosette.

 

Kortet er hold enkelt og med et relativt stort white space område.

 

På den venstre side af det hvide karton udstansede jeg en af strimlerne fra Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Winter Borders & Rosette. Jeg brugte den samme die til at udstanse rødt karton til at fylde i hullerne i det hvide karton, hvorved jeg fik candy cane looket frem. Den anden strimmel, også fra Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Winter Borders & Rosette, udstansede jeg i guldfarvet papir. Jeg sørgede for at gemme de små stjerner, så jeg kunne bruge dem et andet sted på kortet.

 

For at lave teksten på kortet udstansede jeg fire "noel" (jeg endte med kun at bruge tre af dem) med en die fra Thinlits Die Set 9PK - Christmas Phrase Cards. Når man limer flere udstansede motiver ovenpå hinanden, får man et stabilt og dimensionelt motiv uden at bruge 3d-puder.

 

Da jeg havde limet de tre "noel" ovenpå hinanden, limede jeg dem på det kortet. Herefter vandt jeg baker's twine om kortet, og bandt sløjfen lige over teksten. For at være sikker på at sløjfens ender blev siddende på en pæn måde, limede jeg dem fast med en lille klat lim. Det sidste touch var at montere tre af guldstjernerne over højre side af hilsnen.
