More than meets the eye!

Many thanks to Brenda Walton for cheering up an otherwise grey and rain swept day in my little corner of Wales. She only went and designed another fabulous set of dies for us all to play with!

The title of this weeks blog refers to the set in question which is a Thinlits die set named Lanterns and is made up of 23 separate dies.

The reason I titled the post 'more than meets the eye' is because the first time I saw it as a set of line drawings I was somewhat less than enthusiastic. That all changed when I received a sample and realised what a wonderfully versatile set this is with bags of creative potential.

I set out to make a card using only the lanterns but I thought 'No! that doesn't tell the whole story' so I couldn't resist making another couple of cards to show off some of the other dies too.

For this card I have assembled a selection of shades of grey Bazzill card together with some ivory and metallic silver card. I chose a floral stamp from one of Tim Holtz' Stampers Anonymous sets and stamped two rectangles of card using grey ink before die-cutting my two lanterns.... two of six I might add!

Next, I used a Hougie Board to add embossed stripes to the lanterns. you can also use a ribbler if you have one (wish I could find mine!)

I die-cut two tassels and two of the lantern centres before attaching them to the rear of the lantern using adhesive foam pads.

Next, I cut the three separate elements needed to create the flower from silver and two shades of grey before using a stylus to give them a little dimension.

I cut a rectangle of light grey card and embossed it using the trellis folder (one of my faves!). I used the same floral stamp to add detail to the face of my base card and attached the embossed card along with a strip of mid grey card and a rectangle of ivory card. I stamped the word 'enjoy' onto card and cropped it using one of my beloved circle dies before attaching a strip of darker grey card to the rear using an adhesive foam pad. Finally,I die-cut the tiny butterfly from silver card.

Here is the finished card assembled using a combination of PVA glue, double-sided tape and adhesive foam pads. As you can see I also attached loops of natural twine to the top of the lanterns and added a smattering of adhesive gems and pearls.

There is so much more that you can do with the lanterns alone as I will probably prove in the coming weeks (I've just sent for some Chinese calligraphy stamps!)

As well as all those cool lanterns there is a three tier cake and stand in the set, not to mention the lovely heart. I used quite a contemporary colour palette for this card

Last but not least there is a gorgeous little cupcake frosting and case die. A suitable stamp and a hand full of diamante gems later........

It IS okay to be different! I have to remind myself every morning when I wake up!

Money as a gift for a wedding?

Hey guys,
even in fall a lot of people get married. And you know, the most of them want to get some money for their honeymoon or something like that, as a gift. I got this beautiful bird house Die for the Big Shot Plus from Sizzix and I think, that this one is the perfect thing for hiding some money.

So cute, right? And oh the possibilities... Just glue a paper straw at the bottom of the hous and put it into a flower pot. So pretty and I´m sure the bride and the groom will love it! ;)

List of supplies that I used:
Sizzix Thinlits Plus Die Set 5PK - Box, Birdhouse #660872

Oh man, I love this Die Set so much! Can´t wait to create some more of them as cute decoration for my garden next year. :)
Have a nice day, xo Julia

Quick and Easy Candy Bag

Hello everybody,
I told you the last weeks how many friends are invited us to some birthday parties and I like to give them something that I made by myself. For the daughter of a special friend I made a little candy bag.

Here is my list of supplies:
Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit #660515 and the included Bigz Die Essentials
a paper bag, some pieces of pretty paper and of course some candy ;)

I die cutted some of the flowers with the Bigz Die from the Big Shot Plus Starter Kit and attached them together with my stapler. With bending the wings of the butterfly and the leaves it became a little more depth. The paper bag got a little texture on the bottom with one of my favorite embossing folders! I love the pattern with the cute hearts.

I filled it with a lot of candy, but you can also use other things like nailpolish, a little book, pens or other crafty things. :) Hope you like my little gift bag and wish you a beautiful weekend.

Have a nice day, xo Julia

the Wedding gift....

Hi there,

do you remember the wedding card i showed you weeks ago?
Tomorrow is the big day - my boss will get married.

And of course the bureau collected some money for a gift.
But what to give, if the couple already owns everything???

So we decided to give the money - but only packed in an envelope?

Never...

I made a little kitschy frame of it.

All you need is:
Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit (White & Gray)
(out of this: Thinlits Plus Die Set (Basic Shapes) and
Bigz L Die (Everyday Essentials))
Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Alphabet Die - Alphabetical
a frame
some banknotes

First i fold all the banknotes into hearts (yes, again hearts  ;-)
How to do this, is shown here.

Than i laid them into one big heart in the frame.

Then i put some decoration all around.
I used the Thinlits Plus Die Set (Basic Shapes) and the Bigz L Die (Everyday Essentials)
out of the  Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit (White & Gray)

Ready....

Have a great weekend,, Stephanie

Sizzix Big Shot Plus Starter Kit (White & Gray)
(daraus: Thinlits Plus Die Set (Basic Shapes) und
Bigz L Die (Everyday Essentials))
Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Alphabet Die - Alphabetical
einen Bilderrahmen
Geldnoten

fertig.

Habt ein schönes Wochenende
Liebste Grüße, Steffi

A wedding card

Hi Sizzix friends!

Today I have created a beautiful clean and simple wedding card. I have used the Layering Frames I like them a lot!!! I've also used soft but colourful scrapbook papers that remind me a countryside wedding.

This card it’s also useful as a greeting card for a just married couple.

To make this wedding card I’ve used:

My Big Shot Plus, the Alphanumeric dies, the Layering Frames dies, the Garden Greens die and at least I have added a little heart die, two scrapbooking papers, a white cardstock, a kraft cardstock, a ribbon that match with the papers,

Here is the step by step:

  1. I’ve die-cut the leaves in white cardstock
  2. I’ve die-cut the letters and the doodle frame in a kraft cardstock and the square in white cardstock.
  3. Now I’ve all the pieces to make the card.
  4. I’ve sew the scrapbook papers.
  5. I’ve separated the leaves.
  6. I’ve created the frame with the letters and I’ve added two little hearts I’ve die-cut in sparkly paper.

Here are some details:

The doodle frame is really cute!!! These little hearts are from the Floral wreath dies.

I have curved the leaves to give some volume to the card.

He preparado un pequeño paso a paso:

  1. He troquelado las hojas en cartulina blanca.
  4. He cosido el papel decorado.
  5. He separado las hojas.
  6. He hecho un marco con las iniciales y he añadido los dos corazones pequeños troquelados en papel purpurina.
Algunos detalles:

¡Feliz y creativo viernes!

Una buona giornata!
