For You Card

Hi All,

Today I would like to show you a mixed-media card. I used different paints, stencils, sprays and etc. to create this card. And of course Sizzix dies help me to make my card more beauty.

Art Journal


Hi Everyone!

Daria is here.

Today I would like to show you a new art journal. I made it for one of my scrap-friends. I hope she will love this art journal and will create a lot of gorgeous mixed media projects.

I made the inner sheets from watercolor papers. Сover I made using cotton fabric. To add different shapes on the cover, I cut these shapes using dies (also from cotton fabric). I sewed them onto the cover using a sewing machine. Then I used white acrylic paint and different sprays with stencils. After paint dried, I outline the edges of the shapes using PITT Artist Pens.

This is back side of art journal.

Сегодня я хочу показать новый арт-журнал, который я сделала в подарок одной из своих скрап-подруг. Его размер А5. 

Арт-журнал сделан с нуля, внутренние листы у него из бумаги для черчения, мягкая обложка. Разные интересные формы для обложки я вырезала с помощью ножей Sizzix. Так же я использовала краску, трафареты и спреи для придания законченного вида обложке.

Mixed-media collage "Shop-window"

Daria is here. 

Some my posts earlier I showed you an art journal, that I made by myself. And today I would like to show you one of my page from this art journal.

I cut mannequins and parts of dresses using Sewing Room die. 

I created background using acrylic paints and stamps. And then I glued mannequins and created dresses.

I outline the edges using PITT Artist Pen and permanent black pen. Also I added different cute things onto the dresses using stamps, doodling and rub-ons. And that's what I got in the end. Only one die helped me to create interesting page to my art journal.

Недавно я показывала вам свой арт-журнал, который сделала сама. А сейчас хочу показать одну из страничек, которую я сделала в этот журнал. 

Я вырезала манекены и верхние части платьев с использованием ножа Sewing Room. Затем я создала фон с помощью красок и штампов, приклеила манекены и одела на них платья. После этого я доработала коллаж, добавляя различные милые штучки на платья с помощью штампов, дудлинга и натирок. И вот что у меня получилось в итоге. Всего один нож для вырезания, и получилась целая страничка в арт-журнал.

Cover for Art Journal

I love to paint, I love mixed-media and I love hand made things. That is why I decided to make an art journal by myself. I made the inner sheets from watercolor papers. Сover I made using cotton fabric.

To add different shapes on the cover, I cut these shapes using different dies (also from cotton fabric). I sewed them onto the cover using a sewing machine.

Сегодня я хочу показать обложку для моего арт-журнала, который я сделала сама. Я люблю рисовать, люблю делать коллажи, и люблю вещи ручной работы. Поэтому я и захотела себе сделать журнал сама, для своих же рисунков и экспериментов.
Для внутренних листов я взяла бумагу для акварели и сшила ее в блок. Для обложки я взяла тонкий картон, синтепон и разные кусочки хлопка. Я сшила обложку, а затем, чтобы добавить на нее разные формы, навырезала фигурные элементы с помощью Big Shot (так же из ткани). После чего пришила все элементы на обложку.
Затем я использовала разные трафареты с белой акриловой краской и спреями. После того как краска высохла, я обвела все элементы с помощью маркеров PITT Artist Pens.
Теперь осталось только вклеить внутренний блок в обложку и журнал готов. У меня он размером 22*30 см. Не маленький, правда? :)

Hello everyone, this is Janna. Today I am sharing a scrapbooking page. The title means "Life is a canvas, paint on it" and the journaling is about my desire to use more paint and colors in my work.

Instead of using the embossing die with the Big Shot machine, I put the paper into the die and pressed with my fingers. This creates a decent and subitle structure.

As you can see, I also used the negative shapes from the banners, heart and circle. I don´t like to waste beautiful supplies, so these can be used as great style elements as well.

Anstatt die Embossing-Die mit der Big Shot Maschine zu verwenden, habe ich das Papier in die Die gelegt und mit den Händen draufgedrückt. Das hinterlässt einen subtileren und dezenteren Abdruck.

Wie ihr sehen könnt, habe ich auch die Negati-Stanzform der Banner, des Herzens und des Kreises verwendet. Ich schmeiße wunderschöne Materialien nicht gerne weg, daher ist dies eine gute Lösung für die Reste, außerdem sind sie ein tolles Stilelement.

I love to create mixed-media projects. They give free play to my imagination. And today I want to show you a small collage.

Different stamps and papers

1. I cut two borders using Vintage Lace Edging and Flower Garden w/Scallops dies. One of them I cut from vellum, and another from scrapbooking paper. I used this borders to make the surface more textural. I glued them using decoupage glue.

2. Then I used brayer to apply the acrylic paint to my collage. After paint dried  I sprinkled spray.

3. I used different stamps to make the background more interesting.

4. After that I cut butterflies using Card Phrases Set #2 and glued them with decoupage glue.

5. I cut the letters using Inside Out die and glued them. Then I painted butterflies and letters with yellow acrylic paint. After they dried I outline letters and butterflies with a black permanent marker.

 6. And the last step. I added a small details using stamps, rub-ons, crystals and glitter. Collage is ready. It will be the cover of my small notebook.

1. C помощью ножей Vintage Lace Edging и Flower Garden w/Scallops я вырезала два бордюра. Один из кальки, другой из скрап-бумаги. Я буду использовать их, чтобы сделать поверхность моего коллажа более текстурной и узорчатой. Я приклеила бумагу и эти бордюры с помощью декупажного клея.

2. С помощью валика я нанесла желтую акриловую краску и после ее высыхания побрызгала спреем.

3. Затем я воспользовалась различными штампами, чтобы сделать фон более интересным. 

4. После этого я вырезала бабочек с помощью набора ножей Card Phrases Set #2 и приклеила их с помощью декупажного клея.

5. Я вырезала буквы с помощью ножа Inside Out и приклеила их. Затем покрасила бабочек и буквы желтой акриловой краской, после чего обвела их черным маркером и помазала глиттером.

6. И последний этап, я добавила немного деталек с помощью штампов, натирок и страз. Коллаж готов. И это будет обложка для моего блокнотика.

Altering a travel journal

Hello! HAPPY NEW YEAAAAAAAAR! May 2013 bring you happiness, inspiration, creativity, lots of Sizzix goodies and more! :)

Back in November, I went to teach scrapbook classes in New Caledonia, a little French island near Australia and New Zealand - it was FANTASTIC! Girls played with Big Shots, Bigz dies, Sizzlits, inks, embossing folders and more! :)

I had so much fun that I took hundreds and hundreds of photos - which now found a new home into this album!

New Caledonia is paradise - white sand beaches, turquoise lagoons, wild forests and more. I wanted to use the same color palette.

Here's what you'll need to create such a cover for a mini album or album.

First of all, you'll need o cover your entire album with gesso. Add at least two layers so that you can work on a very smooth and white surface.

Then, add some water (with a brush or with a spray if you have one).

Mist some of your favorite Mists onto your cover - here I used Studio Calico Audrey, Doris and Gold to create this fun effect.

Be sure to add lots of water afterwards in order to mix the colors together.

Grab your album and make it stand - you'll get those fun dripping marks on the cover!

Finish the painting with tony dots here and there with black ink.

Once your background is dry, cut a pice of vellum with the Scallop Circle Sizzlits Die and glue it on your cover.

Then, cut into a patterned paper to create a cute paper rosette using the Paper Rosette die and the appropriate items (listed above).

Fold and glue in the center of the Scallop Circle.

Embellish with whatever items you want :)

I created another page using the Paper Rosette (probably my #1 die of all time!).

Playing with Paint

Lately I have been experimenting with different inks and mists. I really like how this butterfly turned out.

First I mixed some acrylic paints together: green and light blue. I brushed that randomly on Strathmore smooth bristol paper. Watercolor paper would work great too. Then I took a piece of bubble wrap and dipped it in white paint and dabbed it over the painted area. Finally I sprayed some Shimmerz mist over all of it.

I was pretty happy just looking at the painted piece of paper! But then I started wondering how it would look if I die cut it. There is a quote I like that related to butterflies so I used my Sizzix ScoreBoard Butterfly die to cut it out.

ScoreBoards dies are really versatile because they cut and score thick material but they also cut paper. (They won't score paper though because the scoring blades are set higher up in the die and won't reach the paper.) But it just takes a couple of seconds to score the paper by hand.

 
I printed the saying on the computer and trimmed to fit inside a thrift store frame and then added some freehand butterfly tracks with a brown pen.

 

 I think this technique would work great on a canvas, scrapbook layout, home decor projects, cards and would make a nice gift too.
