Flowers, Flowers & More Flowers!

What a beautiful day it is today.  At last the sun is getting warm and we can enjoy the outdoors once again!

Today I wanted to share some projects with you featuring the Susan Tierney Cockburn dies.  With the help of the Sizzix Garden Tool Kit  this amazing dies create the most realist effects for flowers and greenery.

The first project is a gift box decorated with the Hydrangea Die.  Each petal is cut, inked and shaped and then adhered to a polystyrene ball cut in half to give the shape.

This is the Crocus Die and again is inked and shaped to create the realistic effect.  These would be a beautiful way to decorate a table at a wedding or special occasion.

Finally I used the Lilac Die to decorate this card.  With the use of the burlap it creates a lovely soft and natural effect.

I have had such fun creating these projects, each flower gives such different results.

Thank you for reading.

Enjoy your weekend hopefully in the sun!

Until Next Time...

Summer Hexagons

Hello.

I hope this post finds you all well and enjoying the sunny weather.  Today I have a couple of bright summery cards to share with you.

The theme today is hexagons!  I love hexagons,  they have been used so much in crafting over the past year but they have such a fresh feel to them!

This first card features the Hexagon FramelitsSizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Basket Weave & Honeycomb Set and the Sizzix starter Kit.

The second card again uses the Hexagon Framelits and the Sizzix Starter Kit.

These are great for quick cards for any occasion.

Thats all from me today, as I have lots of lovely samples to be creating for an upcoming show.

Until next time ...

Circles, Circles & More Circles!

Hello,

What an incredibly fast two weeks this has been since I last posted!

I often get asked what is the one crafting item I couldn't be without...

Well of course there are a few but it got me thinking! What items do I use over and over and the answer has to be my Circle Framelits.  I use them ALL the time, probably EVERYDAY! They are the one thing I couldn't be without! I mean who can actually cut a circle without them???

So whilst coming up with my projects to share with you this week I decided to make use of the Circle Framelits a bit more and make a couple of simple but effective cards!

The first card is a New Baby card.  I have added the wording by using the Block Talk Bigz XL Die. Then simply cut various size cirlces and adhered them onto the card, some with 3D foam pads to give the card dimension.

The second card could be used for any occasion, although again it would make a lovely New Baby card.  This time i have layered the patterned circles onto White cardstock circles to give a fresh look.

The beauty of these circles - You can use them for any occasion, simply by changing the patterned papers and wording.  Great if you have lots to make.

Well, that is all from me today.

Have a lovely weekend.

Until next time ....

Happy Crafting!

It's A Numbers Game ...

Hello it is Katie here.

This week I have had fun creating some cards featuring numbers.  Adding numbers is a great way to personalise cards for both children and adults, although as adults we would rather forget our age!!

Of course all of these can be altered using any numbers you wish.

These large Sassy Serif Numbers are perfect for cards.  They are so versatile and great for scrapbooking too!

The numbers and alphabet here are from the Block Talk Alphabet. Again this is a die which has so many uses.

I have so many more ideas using these dies, maybe I will share a few more with you soon. I would love to feature some fun children's cards using numbers.

Have a lovely weekend and Happy Crafting x

Flowers For Mum ...

Hello to you all,

Well, it has certainly been a while since I last posted on here! As some of you may know I was expecting my fourth child in December.  He arrived as a late christmas present and was born on 28th December.

So here we are in March already, where has that time gone?  Keeping to theme of March I am going to share a Mothers Day project with you.

A Pretty Jar Of Flowers

Using the Bigz Die Flower Layers #8 I have die-cut 8 of them, folded along the score lines and threaded paper straws through the centre to create the stems.

I have used bright, vibrant papers that have a lovely spring feel to them.

I have then taken a kilner jar and decorated it using string and papers along with the Butterfly die from the Sizzix Starter Kit.

The beauty of sharing these on Mother's Day is they will keep forever and be sure to make Mum smile!

You can find the full tutorial over on my blog from Saturday 8th March.

Have a lovely weekend and I will be back with another project to share soon.

Hobbycrafts NEC

Hello.

Today I want to share a post with you showing some of the samples I made for Hobbycrafts at the NEC at the beginning of the month.  Unfortunatly since then I have been really poorly with the flu and being 8 months pregnant it has knocked me for six!  However I am at last better and here to share my projects.

I was on the Aceville stand at the NEC and really did have a fabulous time meeting so many lovely people.  I got to work with some lovely Christmas dies by Brenda Walton.

I adore this Woodland Deer Decorative Strip, it is so sweet and just called out to decorate a jar!  I am planning on making a few more of these as Christmas gifts!

Another of my favourites was the Holiday Greenery, which I used to make this framed picture.  I love the way you can build as big a project as you like just by using this one die.

And finally here is a card I made using the Sizzlits Poinsettia Die

Well, that is all from me.  Maybe by the time I post again I might have some baby news!!

Create & Craft Samples

What a fabulous time I have been having working with all the wonderful new dies in preparation for last Sundays Create & Craft show.  I have enjoyed every second of working with them and today want to share some of the samples I made for the show.

It is really hard to pick a favourite but I did adore working with the 3D Flower, it is one of those dies that you can use time and time again and get so many different results! These flowers were cut from felt and added to a hessian bag.

The Gazania and Plumeria from Susan's Garden are so beautiful and such fun to create.  These would be amazing to use with wedding stationary or decorations.

The Tim Holtz Stencilled Decorative Strip Alphabet was great to work with and a must have for any crafter wanting to add words to their creations. Here I added it to an acetate strip which gave the wording a 3D effect.

And of course, the ultra popular Tim Holtz Caged Bird which is great for so many different occasions and projects.

Well that is all from me.  If you have any questions about any of these designs or the others that I demonstrated on the show please let me know and I will do my best to help.

Until next time ...

Katie

An Introduction from Me!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Katie Skilton and I am a freelance craft designer in the UK.  I have been papecrating for over 12 years.  Just over 18 months ago I turned my passion into a business and now work full time in the craft industry.

I am so excited to be working with Sizzix and their wonderful products.  From next week you will see a little more of me when I do my first show for sizzix on Create and Craft.

Today I just want to share with you some of the projects I made recently for my first Sizzix demonstration at Cadbury Home and Leisure Centre.

As you can see from my work I have a modern but clean and colourful style and love working on home decor projects.

All of these products were made using the started kit which I absolutely adore.  It has so many possibilities and can be used for so many projects.

Thank you for looking for looking and I will be back soon to share with you some of my samples from my first Create and Craft show.
