Easter Treats Gift Box

Easter is just a week away! I am hoping to spend the weekend relaxing and I'm crossing my fingers for some Spring sunshine.

I love crafting for Easter as the pastel colours really suit my tastes. So today I'm sharing this cute pastel coloured Easter Treats Gift Box - the perfect place to hide all your chocolates.

Supplies needed:
Using the free Easter printables, I printed the tulip pattern onto white card stock. I then cut out my box template using the Thinlits Plus box die.

I used a bone folder to run over the creases of the box folds.

Then assembled the box using double sided sticky tape.

I added shredded tissue to make a nest for my chocolate eggs and fixed the Happy Easter slogan to the front of the box with foam sticky pads.

I hot glued a ribbon onto the bottom of the box, so it could stay in place when tied and untied.

Tie the ribbon and your box is complete!

The perfect way to hide your chocolate egg stash.....or maybe make these into gifts for your friends and neighbours.

I hope you all have a very Happy Easter if you are celebrating where you are!

Travel voucher

Hello!
A few weeks ago we have been invited to a birthday party and we presented a coupon for a trip to Denmark.
For another invited couple I made an additional coupon for the same trip.

I used different alphabet dies and cut out the german word for voucher/coupon 'GUTSCHEIN'.
I used the same white cardstock as the cardstock for the card, so the letters looks like embossed.

You need:
Big Shot (Powder Blue & Teal) #657900
SIZZIX Bigz XL Alphabet Die - Block Talk Capitel #658563
SIZZIX Bigz XL Alphabet Die - Block Talk Lowercase #659442
SIZZIX Bigz XL Alphabet Die - Word Play Tim Holtz #657837
SIZZIX Framelits Die Set 6PK - Hearts #657561

I found the flag of Denmark on the internet, printed it and cut it out with one of the SIZZIX framelits hearts. Finally I add some beads and ribbon.

I hope you`ll like it.
I wish you a lovely weekend.
Annika

Let´s make an Owl… ehm… Chickenbag for chocolate eggs

Hello everyone,
it´s time for some easter projects right? :) I (Julia) made a cute Chickenbag for chocolate eggs and other small little gifts you wanna give to someone you like.

So here is the list of supplies:
Cardstock in White and Yellow, Glue and of course
Sizzix Big Shot Plus #660020  or the Sizzix Big Shot Starter Kit #658300
Sizzix Bigz XL Die - Bag, Owl #659720

Yes, that´s right! You will need the Owl Bag Bigz Die. I totally love Owls, so I necessarily needed this cute Sizzix Bigz Die. But let me show you how you can make a Chicken Bag with it, too :)

Just make aaaaaall the little bits and pieces you need to make the Owl Bag. The eyes, the body of it, the  borders for the feathers….

And here comes the trick: Just take your scissors and cut off the ears of the owl. That´s it! :) Glue all the pieces together and fill it with some treats.

Isn´t that cute? I hope I inspired you a little bit to create your very own unique gift bags. :) Have a nice day, xo Julia

--------------------------------------------------------

a bunch of autumn leaves

Hello there,

I know spring is close....
but is this a reason not to use a whole lot of autumn leaves on my layout....?

No! There will be enough time to use flowers and spring things the upcoming weeks.

And i sooo much wanted to create a layout with a lot of
leaves (Tattered Leaves #656927) again...

Tattered Leaves (#656927) together with Bookplates (Tags & Bookplates #656938)
made a perfect frame for the hiking pictures of last years vacation...
At least a short title made with the funny Wordplay-Alphabet (Bigz XL Die - Word Play by Tim Holtz #657837)...

finished.... i love how it turned out...

*************************

Hallo Ihr,

Materials:
Sizzix Big Shot Plus (#660020)
Sizzix Bigz Die - Tattered Leaves (#656927)
Sizzix Bigz XL Die - Word Play by Tim Holtz (#657837)

Easter bucket and a card

Hi Sizzix friends!

The project I show you today is an Easter project. I have used the digital paper you can download here and some Craft Asylum design dies to Sizzix to make a pretty bucket for chocolates and a card.

Where I live there is a tradition to give to our godchildren a cake with chocolate figures or chocolate eggs. This year I have decided to make this bucket in different colours for my godchildren.

The Happy Home die is perfect for decorating the bucket. I have die-cut the birdhouse and after this I have made an embossment with the same die, using the silicone rubber and the impression pad.

Here are the steps and the explanation:

  1. Die cut the birdhouse
  2. Don't remove the paper from the die.
  3. Use the multipurpose platform in number 2, the rubber silicone and impression pad.
  4. Put all together in this order: multipurpose platform in number 2, one clear cutting pad, the die with the die-cut facing up, the rubber silicone and the impression pad.
  5. This is the result, a beautiful embossment that decorates the birdhouse.
  6. You can do the same with the other pieces of the "Happy Home" die.

A larger detail of the birdhouse:

Inside the bucket the children will find the chocolate eggs and some surprises.

I have also made a card wishing a Happy Easter:

The colours of these papers are perfect for Easter!!! I have stitched the background paper, and to give the message I have used the Love bird die. The result is this lovely bird in beautiful colours.

I have chosen blue and pink colour for the bird.

Some adhesive pearls in the same colours as the dotted paper.

Some leaves appear from behind the circle.

I have used the following Sizzix products:

I hope you have enjoyed this Easter bucket and card. Thanks for your visit!

Have a creative and happy Friday!

¡Feliz y creativo viernes!

Making new from the old

I've been looking at vintage blocks a lot lately, thanks to a friend and her inspiration for scrap reduction, and thanks to the amazing book Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns by Barbara Brackman, published in 1993.  A historic record of over 4000 patterns. It doesn't give you any measurements, cutting instructions, just a picture of a pattern, any alternative names, and its origins. Fascinating!

All that eye candy got me thinking how some of these blocks are so easy to make using the quilting dies and my Big Shot machine!

So I started with Lucky Clover, a block that dates back to the early 1930's and Aunt Martha Studios that published kits, patterns and booklets.

The block needs the following:

Big Shot machine
Bigz Trapezoid Die (657615) (2"x 4" finished)
Bigz 2 1/2" Square Die (657607)

I used an Art Gallery Fabrics Scrap bag for piecing this block.

A basic Four Patch layout of the block would seem easy enough, however, this block does require the mastering of Y Seams.  Fear not, I'll show you how!

I cut my fabrics with the Big Shot, and when layering the fabrics to cut the trapezoids I made sure I had fabrics layered so they were in pairs right sides together to give me lefts and rights.

It's always useful to lay out your block pieces in the final block layout to keep you on track for the piecing.

The block is made up of four patches of the same unit, so we will start with piecing one unit.
Piece one of the patterned and one background trapezoid along the angled seam.

Mark the 1/4" seam for both the angled side and the shorter side.  This will give you your starting point for this seam.  Stitch along to the pointed end.  It is worth doing a couple of stitches, then back stitch to secure the seam at each end.  (It is important to know how your sewing machine behaves when backstitching so you do not stitch into the seam allowance at the marked point.)

You can then lay the center square onto the trapezoids.  Mark the 1/4" point on the square so that when you stitch from the top edge, you stop just at the point marked.  This will be right at the join of the trapezoids.  Be careful not to sew over their seams.

Re-position the pieces to sew the other side of the square, sewing from the outside edge to the centre 1/4" seam point.

Your block will look like this above

This process needs to be repeated with the remaining pieces of the unit, with the addition of the outside squares on each end.

When you join the second trapezoid pieces to the center square, start from the outside edge and work inwards stopping 1/4" from the bottom edge of the center square.

be sure to fold areas of the block you are not sewing out of the way of your sewing path.

I pressed the diagonal seams open and ensured the center square was pressed to the outer edges of the block

Repeat this for the remaining 3 units to make up the block.
Piece into pairs, join the pairs together to complete your Lucky Clover block.

This block is 12" finished, but you could easily make a larger block by using the next size up in dies (657628 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" trapezoid and 657608 3 1/2" square) would give you and 18" finished block.

I love this block, and can see a whole quilt of them.  I'm not so sure I will do a whole quilt of the same fabrics, like this

but a more controlled scrappy layout.

I hope you will have a go at piecing the block, and seeing that the Y seam is nothing to be apprehensive about.

If you don't fancy the Y seams, I'll be back next month with another block that uses the same dies, with the addition of one other and not a Y seam in sight!

Happy Spring!

Per le amiche italiane! :)

Incollare tutti i pezzi come vedete in foto. Aggiungere paillettes e bottoni come tocchi finali.

A presto! :)
