Last weekend I traveled to Pittsburgh, PA for the annual Sweet Retreat, sponsored by Your Memories Here. What a fun time! An added bonus was that I got to work with Cari Fennell of Prima and their beautiful Fairy Rhymes papers.
Since it was the Sweet Retreat, and there were tons of delicious treats and snacks for us, I decided to work with my Cupcake Stand & Pennants ScoreBoards die. I wanted to show how versatile this die is and some fun ways to use it. The Prima paper made the layout!
Supplies:
657728 Cupcake Stand & Pennants
657119 Leaves
658053 Flower with Heart Petals
657114 Flower, Layers #9
655128 Serif Essentials Alphabet
657718 Birds & Butterflies set
657721 Borders& Hydrangeas
657380 Flower & Wreath set
We started out making the Cupcake Stand...
The cupcake wrap is one of my older dies. To make the cupcake, cover a
STYROFOAM™ ball with ribbon and pin it in place. Add a paper flower on top.
...and a layout using my 3D flowers cut from Prima papers... We cut the four scalloped squares from matboard (from the Cupcake Stand) after covering them with paper, then added glitter letters and a random sprinkling of paper flowers. The edges of the squares were folded up for some dimension. The flowers were made using the Heart Flower. We folded brown packing paper in thirds and placed inside the fold on the Borders & Hydrangea die to create a border that ran the length of the scrapbook page.
Pennants were cut from paper on the cupcake die and strung across the page on twine.
Using the negative space from the squares in the layout, the plan was to make mini-albums
from the leftover matboard. We never quite got to that point as we were having way too
much fun eating and laughing but everyone had die cuts to take home to play with.
If you have ever considered going to a crafting retreat, DO IT! It's the perfect getaway
to meet people who get what you do.
