Owl greetings

Today I have yet another card to share with you and this week a cute owl takes center stage on my card. I adore the owl from Bigz Die - Owl #2 and I know I'll be returning to it frequently.

The first step was to diecut all the pieces of the owl using various matching patterned papers. I then handstitched along the edges of the owl's body, beak and wings before assembling the bird.

Since the owl is fairly busy in itself I decided to only decorate the card and the owl slightly: I added a long strip of patterned paper with the sentiment on it and accented the sentiment with a single enamel dot.

For the background I simply ran the card through my big shot using the basket weave embossing folder from the Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Basket Weave & Honeycomb Set  giving the card some texture without stealing the attention from the owl.

In order to give the eyes more life I drew some light spots on the black of the eyes. Once the white pen had dried, I lacquered the pupils which added further life to the owl's eyes.

Supply list:
Embroidery thread
Enamel dot (Prima)
